A video processor processes the video signal so that the ancillary information extracted by the ancillary information extractor is displayed on the display. The video processing apparatus is able to enhance the reliability of ancillary information extraction by removing the influence of noise.

A signal combining unit combines the low frequency component of the video signal output from the signal division unit and the high frequency component of the video signal from which the component within the magnitude range of noise is eliminated.
