  • Patent number: 6648934
Abstract: A grill assembly for a cyclone dust collecting apparatus for use in a vacuum cleaner capable of improving dust collection of the vacuum cleaner by preventing dirt from flowing into a vacuum-generating device after passing through a grill. The grill assembly is disposed at an upper part of an air discharge passage of a cyclone body for separating dirt from a whirling air current by centrifugal force by forming the whirling air current from drawn air, and the grill assembly prevents dirt from being drawn into the vacuum-generating device of the vacuum cleaner. The grill assembly comprises a grill body having a plurality of passages formed thereon and filtering units disposed along an interior wall of the grill body for filtering dust drawn into the grill body through the plurality of passages.

  • Publication number: 20030177604
Abstract: A discharging duct of an upright-type vacuum cleaner having side walls and a pair of ribs defining a passage portion, the passage portion connecting an air outlet pipe and a motor driving chamber of a cleaner body. A cover is connected to the duct and seals the passage portion. The cover includes side walls and sealing strips integrally formed thereon to tightly contact the ribs, the sealing strips completely contacting an outer surface of the ribs. Accordingly, the contact area of the cover with respect to the ribs of the duct is lengthened, and sufficient sealing effect is guaranteed without having to use a separate sealing member. Since the need for a separate sealing member is eliminated, the duct is easier to assembly and less costly to manufacture.

  • Publication number: 20030037409
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner brush having a case and a rotary element on which a floor cloth is attached. The rotary element is rotatably disposed on a lower portion of the case. A housing is disposed in the case, having a motor disposed therein, the motor rotatably driving the rotary element. A first and second bushing into which the driven shaft of the rotary element is provided with a blocking element protruding from a bottom surface of the case in the shape of a cylinder along a circumference of the first bushing for preventing dust and dirt from flowing into the first bushing. A ring element protrudes from an upper and inner circumference of the first bushing toward an outer circumference of the driven shaft, the ring element prevents dust and dirt from flowing into the housing. Dust and dirt are thereby prevented from flowing into the housing and damaging various components such as the motor and gears in the housing.

  • Patent number: 6357076
Abstract: A suction nozzle unit for a vacuum cleaner unit includes a casing formed with a suction inlet, a pair of front wheels located at the front of the casing, and a pair of rear wheels located at the rear of the casing. The suction nozzle unit also includes a shaft pin for rotatably supporting the front wheels and an arrangement, for moving the casing up and down relative to the shaft pin so as to raise and lower the front end of the casing relative to the surface to be vacuumed. As a result the front end of the unit can be moved up and down as necessary depending, for example, on the depth of pile of a carpet being vacuumed, thereby increasing ability of the unit to travel over the carpet during vacuuming.
