    Abstract: A portable multimedia device for displaying a document having multiple pages. The portable multimedia device comprises a memory for storing the document; at least one display screen for displaying the document; and a central control unit for reading the document from the memory and displaying the document on the at least one display screen according to an operating mode selected by a user, wherein the central control unit comprises a page indicator display module for displaying page indicators, indicating current, previous, and next pages of the document, to be selected by the user, and a target page select module for displaying on the at least one display screen a target page that corresponds to one of the page indicators [finally] selected by the user. Accordingly, with the portable multimedia device, the user may easily spot a desired page of the document and may turn over pages to the desired page.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing a bi-directional communication in a mobile communication system by a Code Division Duplexing. In the Code Division Duplexing, the data to be transmitted is incorporated with unique codes having an orthogonal property to designate a forward and reverse direction communication, thereby allowing a bi-directional communication. Because the data can be efficiently transmitted through one channel, the Code Division Duplexing can provide a bi-directional communication for low tier bandwidth channels such as private and ISM communication systems.

    Abstract: A system and method for transmitting packet data in a communications system assigns an IP address to a terminal based on a network access identifier corresponding to the terminal, and then sends packet data to the terminal using the IP address. The terminal may be a simple IP user terminal or a mobile IP user terminal, and the packet data being sent preferably corresponds to an IP push service. In order to send the packet data, a protocol link is established between the terminal and network. Transmission of packet data on this link may be managed using an information table which relates information corresponding to the IP address to the network access identifier. This table is updated with information relating to the IP address when, for example, the network access identifier changes, when a point-to-point protocol timer expires, when an IP registration expires a location of the terminal changes.

    Abstract: A hand-off notifying and controlling system of a mobile node is disclosed including a mobile node (MN) that transmits a registration request message. An old foreign agent (FA) provides a mobile IP service to the MN, before the hand-off takes place. A new FA provides a mobile IP service to the MN, after the hand-off takes place. A home agent (HA) generates and transmits a registration release message to the old FA, upon receipt of the registration request message from the MN via the new FA. When the MN is handed off, since the HA deletes the previous registration of the MN, registered in the old FA, the waste of memory resources and registration lock dead can be simply and effectively reduce or solved.

    Abstract: A system and method is provided for controlling a packet data service in a mobile communication network, in which, when a packet data service active terminal moves from an area of an old radio network controller to an area of a new radio network controller in either a suspended state or a dormant state, the same medium access control state information and the same radio resource control information are applied between the new radio network controller and the active terminal. Therefore, the packet data service can rapidly be resumed on the basis of an initially established point-to-point protocol link. If the active terminal moves from the old radio network controller to the new radio network controller under the condition that only a point-to-point protocol state is maintained between the active terminal and a packet data node, the active terminal detects a received pilot signal and checks a system overhead message.
