Abstract: A halftone screen generating method includes growing dot centers into uniform binary patterns in an input image, calculating a main distance of each dot center, forming a screen filter by using the main distance, and generating the halftone screen by using the screen filter to form a binary image. The halftone screen generating method controls cluster dots to have a predetermined main distance, and improve a printing quality by growing dot centers uniformly.

Abstract: A method of measuring a 3D shape includes the steps of measuring a brightness of a first illumination source 41a, measuring a phase-to-height conversion factor, measuring a 3D shape of a circuit board 62 according to the normal inspection mode, and determining whether bare board information about the circuit board 62 is included. If the information is not included, performing bare board teaching to acquire the information. Then, the 3D shape of target objects on the circuit board 62 are measured, when the bare board information is included or bare board teaching information is generated. Next, the circuit board 62 is analyzed to determine if it is normal or abnormal by using 3D shape information.

Abstract: An optical pickup unit, an apparatus for recording/reproducing data, a control method, and a recording medium are disclosed. Each of the optical pickup unit and the recording/reproducing apparatus includes a near-field lens, and uses a high-refraction lens, conically shaped, to effectively use the near-field. Two lens units are required to be compatible with a conventional recording medium. The lens unit is designed in consideration of a distance between the recording medium and the lens, and the tilt or vibration of the lens units is controlled.

Abstract: A palm sized input device for computers comprises a first cursor position sensor which is mounted on the underside and may be operated by a finger, typically the index finger or the middle finger, from the underside of the device (hand held mode); a second cursor position sensor which may be operated by sliding said device along a flat surface with one hand like a conventional mouse (mouse mode); a mode switching means to change the mode between the hand held mode and the mouse mode; at least one means, usually the left click mouse button, to accept the current cursor position; and an alphanumeric keyboard mounted on the top surface. In the preferred embodiment, the top mounted alphanumeric keyboard fully integrates most key functions of a standard QWERTY keyboard by placing the alphanumeric and symbol keys in plurality of circular layers substantially following the geometry of the clock face, i.e., 30 degrees apart angularly.

Especially, the hyaluronic acid derivative gel according to the present invention shows responses peculiar to heat and can be made to have various properties by heat treatment. The hyaluronic acid derivative gel according to the present invention can be used for a variety of purposes such as post-operative adhesion-preventing gel, material for wrinkle treatment, auxiliary material for plastic surgery, material for arthritis treatment, and drug delivery vehicle.

Abstract: An installation and maintenance method for maintaining a control module for remote starter and alarm system for vehicles includes the steps of plugging in a signal converter onto the control module, establishing an electronic connection between the control module and a first information processing device, obtaining a control information for the control module, and applying the control information on the control module. The signal converter includes a serial to wireless converter and the first information processing device includes a personal digital assistant (PDA). The method can further includes the steps of establishing a connection between the first information processing device and a second information processing device through a communication network and downloading an information from the second information processing device. A remote installation and maintenance system includes an information processing device, a communication network, and a server.

Abstract: A reference voltage supply apparatus and a driving method thereof in a ferroelectric memory device provide a reference voltage stabilized against the imprint effect thus maintaining reading reliability of the device. In the reference voltage supply apparatus (e.g., using a non-switching capacitance of a ferroelectric capacitor), a reference cell is constructed of a ferroelectric capacitor and an access switch, and provides a reference voltage to read data from a memory cell. In an active mode, the reference cell stores data of a first logic state (e.g., corresponding to the non-switching capacitance of the ferroelectric capacitor), in the reference cell, and then supplies, as a reference voltage, the voltage corresponding to the data of the first logic state to a bit line; and in a stand-by mode, a reference voltage controller stores (writes) data of a second logic state (opposite to the first logic state), into the reference cell.

Abstract: A method and system for a plurality of airplanes in flight to receive from and send to a plurality of ground stations broadcast and communication signals through a single or a plurality of geostationary satellites, wherein at least the mobile link between said airplanes and said satellite, uplink or downlink, uses the high frequency radio waves at 17 GHz or higher, such as Ka-band. The fixed link between said satellite and said ground stations may use any radio frequencies below the frequencies used to communicate between the satellite and the aircraft. The lower frequencies tend to be less susceptible to rain attenuation and hence suitable for closing the fixed broadcast and communication link. Frequencies such as C-band or Ku-band, or even Ka-band, are applied between satellite and ground such that the available link margin is sufficient to overcome rain attenuation at said ground stations.
