  • Publication number: 20130291829
Abstract: A system for regulating the operation of an idling motor vehicle monitors one or more selected engine operational parameters such as coolant temperature, exhaust gas temperature, and catalytic converter temperature, and compares the measured parameters against selected benchmark criteria stored in the memory of a microprocessor. The microprocessor controls the vehicle's ignition system to shut down the engine when the measured parameters come within the corresponding benchmark criteria. The system preferably but not necessarily operates in conjunction with a remote vehicle starter system. The system may also or alternatively be adapted to shut down an idling motor vehicle engine when total idling time reaches a specified maximum value, which may be selected based on idling time restriction bylaws.

  • Publication number: 20080204207
Abstract: A two-way automotive remote control system for a vehicle having a data bus includes a factory enhancement module, a wire harness adapted to connect the factory enhancement module with the data bus of the vehicle, an antenna, and a remote communicating with the factory enhancement module electronically. The factory enhancement module has a data bus interface, a microcontroller, an antenna interface, and a power supply, and activates the remote in predetermined situations of the vehicle. The data bus interface of the factory enhancement module and the antenna interface are monitored continually. The factory enhancement module accepts and decodes the outputs from the alarm system of the vehicle through the data bus interface. The outputs from the alarm system includes messages according to a predetermined communication standard, which includes J1850. The factory enhancement module accepts and decodes predetermined command messages from the remote in an electromagnetic wave transmission.

  • Patent number: 7343233
Abstract: A safety system and method for a manual transmission vehicle with a remote starter is provided. The system includes a motion transducer module detecting motion of the vehicle and a controller module deciding erroneous starting of the vehicle and stopping the vehicle when erroneous starting is decided. The controller module receives motion data from the motion transducer module. A baseline is set in the detected motion data, and the controller module calculates number of baseline crossings that occur within a predetermined time frame in the motion data. The controller module decides erroneous starting based on the number of baseline crossings. The controller module adjusts the baseline based on averaged motion data from the motion transducer module when the remote starter is inactive.

  • Patent number: 6621926
Abstract: An image retrieval system and method using an image histogram for determining central points and dispersion values as well as quantity information of color about respective histogram bins, thereby using these as mapping information for image retrieval. The image retrieval method using an image histogram includes the following steps. A first step of computing an image histogram bin when an image is inputted, and accumulating values of x, y, x2, y2 to compute central points and dispersion values. A second step of normalizing the respective central points and dispersion values through dividing these by size of whole image, and storing these. A third step of generating a value of model to be retrieved by drawing a feature vector when a query image is inputted, and computing the difference between the generated value of model and central points and dispersion values of an image histogram, count, and number of corresponding bins within the data stored in the second step.
