Abstract: Disclosed is a method, apparatus and system for processing a broadcast application in digital broadcasting. The system includes a digital broadcasting server for generating guide data, including content genre information corresponding to respective programs, and transmitting the guide data and digital broadcasting data corresponding to the respective programs; and a portable terminal for receiving and storing the guide data, receiving digital broadcast data corresponding to a requested program if a user requests digital broadcasting viewing/listening, analyzing the received guide data to thereby retrieve content genre information corresponding to the requested program, retrieving and executing a special broadcasting application corresponding to the retrieved content genre information, and outputting the received digital broadcasting data by means of the executed special broadcasting application.

Abstract: Provided is a method and system for setting a new channel when a DVB-H terminal sets a channel initially or changes the channel. The method includes a DVB-H server transmitting Program Specific Information (PSI)/Service Information (SI) and burst data of Audio/Video (A/V) streams corresponding to a plurality of service channels, a DVB-H terminal detecting a number of a plurality of elementary streams included in a new channel and Packet Identifiers (PIDs) corresponding to the respective elementary streams from the PSI/SI, which has been received from the DVB-H server and stored, in response to a setting request of the new channel from a user, and setting the detected PIDs as temporary receive PIDs, and if the DVB-H terminal detects burst data having a PID equal to any of the temporary receive PIDs from among the burst data received from the DVB-H server, the DVB-H terminal sets the PID corresponding to the detected burst data as a final receive PID and received only burst data having the final receive PID.

Abstract: A method is provided in which a broadcast provider can flexibly change and provide an image configuration of a digital video broadcasting-handheld (DVB-H) reception terminal. Information required to configure a broadcast service image is provided to the DVB-H reception terminal using Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME) midlet. A J2ME midlet file indicating image configuration information can be transmitted in at least one session in which electronic service guide (ESG) data is carried. The DVB-H reception terminal can display images based on broadcast service characteristics. Broadcast providers can configure and provide a differentiated broadcast service image, respectively.

Abstract: A system and method for providing information about currently broadcast content at a broadcasting server. A multimedia broadcasting system includes a broadcasting server for broadcasting a packet including a broadcasting content ID corresponding to currently broadcast broadcasting content for each broadcasting channel and a broadcasting reception terminal for receiving a packet through a broadcasting channel upon selection of the broadcasting channel and checking content information corresponding to a content ID included in the received packet using previously stored broadcasting schedule information in order to check received broadcasting content.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for requesting and providing stored data is provided. The method includes determining whether a data request message is received, searching in stored data for user desired information according to a search condition included in the data request message upon receipt of the data request message, and transmitting the user desired information satisfying the search condition according to a destination included in the data request message.
