Graphene quantum dots according to the present invention were observed to exhibit the effects of decreasing the expression of fibronectin, collagen 1al, Bax, TGF-?1, Smad2/3, ?-SMA, etc., which are renal fibrosis-related proteins, and increasing the expression of E-cadherin, Smad7, MnSOD, and SOD1, and thereby suppress renal fibrosis. Accordingly, it is expected that the graphene quantum dots according to the present invention will be able to be effectively used in the field of developing agents for treating or alleviating chronic kidney disease caused by renal fibrosis.
