  • Patent number: 8196356
Abstract: The invention concerns a window assembly in a vehicle having a window pane that is fixed in a window frame that is also used for movable windows, and a method for mounting the fixed window pane in the window assembly. The method may include: mounting a window mounting assembly to a vehicle structure adjacent to the window opening; sliding the window pane into run channels of the vehicle window frame; mounting a lower edge of the window pane onto a peripheral support surface of a window support cam of the window mounting assembly; rotating a cam lobe of the window support cam into contact with the lower edge of the window pane until the window pane slides upward into a fully closed position; and locking the window support cam, against rotation allowing the window pane to lower, as the window pane is lifted into the fully closed position.

Abstract: A lavatory system has a cabinet including a base, a basin and a head extending above the basin. A water outlet/sensor is mounted in the head. A water supply line is connected to the water outlet. A solenoid valve in the water supply line controls the flow of water through the water supply line. A circuit board sends electrical signals to the solenoid valve for opening and closing the valve upon receipt of indications from a sensor as to whether a user hands is present or not. The solenoid valve, shut off valve, circuit board and sensor are mounted in the head with a sloped surface towards the basin. A manual shutoff valve mounted in the head is included in the supply line.

  • Patent number: 8155735
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for predicting the onset of postoperative atrial fibrillation (AF) from electrocardiogram (ECG) data representing a patient. A signal processing component determines parameters representing the activity of the heart of the patient from the ECG data. A feature extraction component calculates a plurality of features useful in predicting postoperative AF from the determined parameters. A classification component determines an AF index for the patient from the calculated plurality of features. The AF index represents the likelihood that the patient will experience AF.

  • Patent number: 8083364
Abstract: An illuminator is disclosed, in which an LED module emits short-wavelength light toward a phosphor module, which absorbs it and emits wavelength-conditioned light. The emission is generally longitudinal, with a generally Lambertian distribution about the longitudinal direction. The phosphor module includes a transparent layer, closest to the LED module, and a phosphor layer directly adjacent to the transparent layer. Both layers are oriented generally perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The illuminator includes a reflector, circumferentially surrounding the emission plane in the LED module and extending longitudinally between the emission plane and the transparent layer. Virtually all the light emitted from the LED module either enters the phosphor module directly, or enters after a reflection off the reflector.

  • Patent number: 8064555
Abstract: A system includes an input multi-level channelizer, an output multi-level channelizer, and more than one amplifiers connected between the input and output channelizers. The input and output channelizers cover an operating frequency band. Each level of the input multi-level channelizer comprises a plurality of input channels, which may be bandpass filters, and may be grouped into input sub-channelizers. Each successive level of the input multi-level channelizer is configured to divide the incoming signals into smaller frequency bands. Each level of the output multi-level channelizer comprises a plurality of output channels, which may be bandpass filters, and may be grouped into output sub-channelizers. Each successive level of the output multi-level channelizer is configured to combine the incoming signals into larger frequency bands. • Publication number: 20110246182
Abstract: In some embodiments, a non-transitory processor-readable medium stores code representing instructions that when executed cause a processor to select a narrative content template based at least in part on a predetermined content type associated with a real-world and/or virtual event. The code further represents instructions that when executed cause the processor to select a narrative tone type. The code further represents instructions that when executed cause the processor to, for each phrase included in an ordered set of phrases associated with the narrative content template, select, based at least in part on the narrative tone type, a phrase variation from a set of phrase variations associated with that phrase, and define, based on the selected phrase variation and at least one datum from a set of data, a narrative content portion associated with the real-world event. The code further represents instructions that when executed cause the processor to output, at a display, the narrative content portion.
