  • Patent number: 8937943
Abstract: One example method of limiting transmission of data involves generating an Internet datagram that includes digital content and an Internet protocol (IP) header. It is determined whether the digital content comprises localized data that may be transmitted to other devices within a network boundary. If the digital content comprises localized data, a time to live (TTL) parameter of the IP header of the Internet datagram is set to a value that represents a number of times the digital content may be transmitted within the network boundary, with the value being less than or equal to five. After the TTL parameter is set to a value less than or equal to five, the Internet datagram is transmitted. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Publication number: 20140192863
Abstract: Methods and systems may include a transmit apparatus and a receive apparatus. The transmit apparatus can have a first uncompressed video interconnect and an image encoder to generate a compressed bit stream based on an input pixel signal. The image encoder may also send the compressed bit stream to the first uncompressed video interconnect. The receive apparatus may have a second uncompressed video interconnect and an image decoder to receive the compressed bit stream from the second uncompressed video interconnect. The image decoder may also generate an output pixel signal based on the compressed bit stream.

  • Patent number: 8301881
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and system for proactive forced renewal of content protection implementations in devices. The method includes, on a first substantially periodic basis, automatically pushing a new content protection implementation to a device that contains an existing content protection implementation; wherein the existing content protection implementation comprises (a) existing software for presenting protected content and (b) an existing key to facilitate presentation of protected content; and wherein the new content protection implementation comprises a new key to supersede the existing key for facilitating presentation of protected content. On a second substantially periodic basis, the method includes automatically pushing revocation data to the device, the revocation data to identify a plurality of revoked keys, each revoked key of the plurality of revoked keys comprising a key that has been superseded by the new key of the new content protection implementation.

  • Patent number: 8094662
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for limiting transmission of data to a localized area in a networked environment. In an example method, a request to transmit data from a source device to a sink device is received. If the data to be transmitted is localized data, a time to live value associated with the data is set to first predetermined value. If the data to be transmitted is not localized data, a time to live value associated with the data is set to a second predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20090089711
Abstract: A system, apparatus and method for a theme and meta-data based media player is presented. A method includes determining meta-data associated with a plurality of photographs. One or more tags are then determined that are associated with the meta-data, where the one or more tags indicate a frequency and a number of the meta-data. A starting point for a presentation of photographs from a user is accepted. Then, based on the starting point, the one or more tags and a rule set, a list of photographs is automatically generated from the plurality of photographs to be included in the presentation. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

  • Patent number: 6957343
Abstract: In one aspect of the invention is a method for preventing unauthorized copies of a medium, such as a DVD, from being played by a compliant device by using the validation area (VA) region of a medium to validate keying material. A compliant device is a device that will validate keying material. In one embodiment of the invention, a compliant device validates keying material by using the value in the VA region of the medium. In alternative embodiments, a compliant device will validate keying material by checking correspondence between keying material written to a non-VA region of a medium and validation data written to a VA region of a medium. In the alternative embodiments, if the keying material does not correspond to the validation data, then a compliant device will prevent the contents of the medium from being played.

  • Publication number: 20040205345
Abstract: A system and method relating to the production and rendering of pre-recorded audiovisual titles, such as movies or other programs sold on digital versatile discs (DVDs), or other digital storage mediums. In at least one embodiment, the present invention is intended to thwart unauthorized mass distribution of titles. Embodiments of the invention may be used to identify the replicator of any given pre-recorded title, to prevent rendering of a title for which the replicator which produced the title is not identified or not licensed, or where the contents of the title have been tampered with, and to revoke rendering by a player device of one or more unauthorized titles originating from a given replicator.

If the data to be transmitted is localized data, a time to live value associated with the data is set to a first predetermined value. If the data to be transmitted is not localized data, a time to live value associated with the data is set to a second predetermined value. The data is transmitted toward the sink device. If the transmitted data is routed through the Internet, the time to live value associated with the transmitted data is decremented every time the data passes through an IP router. If the time to live value reaches zero, the transmitted data is destroyed.

  • Publication number: 20030226020
Abstract: Protection of content by deterring unauthorized redistribution may be accomplished by at least one of three methods in a consumer modulator device. A first method protects content from unauthorized redistribution by other devices in a content protection system by verifying authenticity of a validated flag, the validated flag being at least a portion of the content, and by removing the validated flag when the validated flag is not authentic. A second method protects content from unauthorized redistribution by other devices by checking whether the content includes a broadcast flag, the broadcast flag being at least a portion of the content, and by removing the broadcast flag from the content when the broadcast flag is detected in the content.

  • Patent number: 6272563
Abstract: One embodiment of an apparatus for communicating routing and attribute information for a transaction between hubs in a computer system is disclosed. The apparatus includes a data path input/output unit to output a packet header for a transaction. The packet header includes a transaction descriptor routing field to identify an initiating agent that initiated the transaction. The transaction descriptor routing field includes a hub identification portion and a pipe identification portion. The hub identification portion identifies a hub that contains the initiating agent. The pipe identification portion further identifies the initiating agent within the identified hub if the transaction has no ordering requirements with respect to a second agent in the identified hub.

  • Patent number: 6192428
Abstract: A method of dynamically changing draining priority in a first-in/first out (“FIFO”) device to prevent over-run errors is described. The method includes the steps of detecting data received in the FIFO, asserting a request to drain the FIFO, detecting when an amount of data received in the FIFO has reached a predetermined high watermark value, and asserting a higher priority request to drain the FIFO. The method further includes the steps of detecting when the amount of data received in the FIFO has fallen below the predetermined high watermark value, maintaining assertion of the higher priority request, detecting when the amount of data in the FIFO has fallen below a predetermined hysteresis value, and deasserting the higher priority request to drain the FIFO.
