  • Patent number: 10257528
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a method and apparatus that adaptively perform encoding and decoding based on image quality. An encoding apparatus may determine optimal Frames Per Second (FPS) for a video and may encode the video based on the determined FPS. Further, the encoding apparatus may provide improved temporal scalability. A decoding apparatus may select a frame to be displayed from among frames of a video depending on a required minimum satisfied user ratio. Through the selection of the frame, the decoding apparatus may provide improved temporal scalability.

  • Patent number: 10063831
Abstract: A method for stereo image rectification includes receiving a plurality of images and determining a matrix for performing rectification on the plurality of images based on a first cost function and a second cost function. The first cost function may be associated with a distance of a corresponding pair of points from among the plurality of images. The second cost function may be associated with distortion in a converted image.

  • Patent number: 9792866
Abstract: Methods for detecting and eliminating a ghosting effect of liquid crystal display (LCD) are disclosed. The ghosting effect detecting method comprises the steps of providing a visual persistency period, providing a maximum color alternation speed of the LCD, obtaining a threshold value by multiplying the human visual persistency period by the maximum color alternation speed, calculating a variation of an intensity level of each of the plurality of pixel components of the LCD and comparing the threshold value and the variation of the intensity level to obtain a comparison result to determine whether the ghosting effect exists in the pixel component.

  • Publication number: 20170208345
Abstract: A method and apparatus for false contour detection and removal for video coding are disclosed. The method includes performing false contour detection by detecting a map of false contour candidate pixels from input image data through sequential evolution of a step of acquiring false contour candidate pixels based on each of a plurality of features of a human visual system in a manner that decreases the number of pixels to be detected in each sequential step, and performing false contour removal by removing a false contour in the input image data according to the map of false contour candidate pixels.

  • Patent number: 7549058
Abstract: A method and apparatus for encrypting and decrypting digital data employing multiple Huffman tables and at least one encryption key to enhance security of the digital data. At least one image parameter for characterizing the digital data, such as a motion vector table or DC-luminance, is selected as an image parameter. All possible Huffman tables according to the image parameter are then generated by Huffman tree mutation. A predetermined number of active Huffman tables from all possible Huffman tables are selected using a first encryption key and a hash function. Afterward, a coding sequence for the active Huffman tables is generated using a second encryption key and the hash function. Finally, the digital data is encrypted into an encrypted bit stream by the active Huffman tables with the coding sequence. Encrypted symbols of the image parameter can be reduced by symbol statistic analysis, thus reducing computation effort.
