  • Patent number: 4755796
Abstract: A manual data entry keyboard includes a plurality of key assemblies, each having an elongated arm and a touch contact at an outer end region of a respective arm. The arms are movable between a retracted position and an extended position, in the latter of which the touch contacts are spaced apart from each other by distances sufficient to enable a user to engage one touch contact at a time without simultaneously engaging an adjacent touch contact. A synchronizer ring simultaneously moves all of the arms between the retracted and extended positions.

  • Patent number: 4675292
Abstract: Extracellular enzymes are stabilized with a carboxyalkylated or phosphonoalkylated polymer having a molecular weight of at least 500 Daltons. Exemplified is the stabilization of the enzyme glucose isomerase used in a process to convert D-glucose to D-fructose. In a preferred embodiment of the invention the feedstream containing the substrate is contacted initially with the stabilizer and then with the enzyme. In this system the stabilizer and enzyme are maintained in separate reactors. This separation, advantageously, results in a higher half-life for the enzyme.

  • Patent number: 4656064
Abstract: A bow-forming ribbon assembly has a decorative flexible ribbon and a drawstring connected loosely to, and freely guided through pairs of apertures formed in, the ribbon lengthwise thereof. Between each pair of apertures, a bending zone is provided which extends at an angle of inclination, which angle is different and of opposite slope from that of the adjacent preceding inclination angle. During forming of the bow, the drawstring bends the ribbon across each bending zone, and forms bow loops distributed at various angles around the axis of the bow to form a pompon-like shape.

  • Patent number: 4515837
Abstract: A bow-forming ribbon has a decorative flexible ribbon member and a drawstring connected loosely to the ribbon at points along its length by relatively stiff retainer members. Each retainer member extends generally transversely across the ribbon member, and each is inclined with respect to the transverse direction at an angle. Each retainer member is inclined at an angle different from that of the preceding retainer member. On forming the ribbon into a bow by pulling the drawstring relative to the ribbon, the inclined retainer members tend to skew the adjacent loops or segments of the bow relative to one another, so that loops distributed at various angles around the axis of the bow are formed, thus avoiding the tendency for the successive loops to seat themselves on one another in a fan shape.

  • Patent number: 4475013
Abstract: The automatic telephone dialing apparatus or repertory telephone dialer system includes a microprocessor, a keyboard and control and routing circuits coupled to and between the keyboard, the microprocessor, an incoming telephone line, and a telephone unit. The keyboard has a plurality of pushbutton keys, each one of which, when depressed, causes the automatic dialing of a predetermined number. Pairs of names and numbers are stored within an internal memory of the microprocessor such that, by depressing keys representing the first few letters of a name, one may find, and cause automatic dialing of, a number corresponding to that name. The system also includes a timer, a redial timer, an alphanumeric display, and means for listing out the stored names on the display, and for searching through a series of names that have the same first several numbers or where the names have the same first several letters.
