  • Patent number: 6571594
Abstract: A sheet bending brake for forming a workpiece comprises a base and an anvil having a bottom-clamping surface. The anvil is positioned in a fixed spaced relationship above the base and in combination with the base defines an unobstructed passage therebetween for receiving at least a portion of the workpiece. A movable plate is disposed between the base and the top plate wherein the movable plate is vertically translatable therein for clamping the workpiece between a top surface of the movable plate and the bottom clamping surface. A bending member is pivotally attached to the movable plate and extends longitudinally therealong for bending the clamped workpiece.

  • Publication number: 20030098200
Abstract: An acoustic absorptive splitter consisting of two absorptive faces separated by a single on-quarter wavelength cavity support is disclosed as an equal substitute for a multi-layered splitter containing a central septum. This construction takes advantage of the reflective properties of the absorptive face sheets to support standing waves in the tuning cavities and in the duct cross modes. The utilization of these design principles permits significant silencer size and weight reduction. It also permits reduced splitter manufacturing costs by elimination of two layers of materials, difficult internal bonding and improvements in quality.

  • Publication number: 20030095848
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining fastener axial loading includes a fastener insert having an arched bottom surface, which deflects correlative to the level of axial loading. A load indicating apparatus determines axial loading by measuring the amount of deflection experienced by the arched bottom surface of the insert. In addition, the arched insert stores elastic energy which is added to the overall elastic energy of the fastener, thereby aiding the fastener integrity during use.

  • Patent number: 6505202
Abstract: A system for evaluating information. The system defines a set of properties and one or more values for each property and then assigns property-value combinations to items of information and to profiles. Information is then evaluated by determining how the property-value combinations assigned to the items of information match those assigned to a profile. Assignments of property-value combinations have ratings and validities associated with them. In assignments to information items, the rating represents the relevance of the information item to the property-value pair; in assignments to profiles, it represents the relevance of the property-value pair to the profile. The validity for an assignment indicates a judgment concerning the strength of the assignment. The system further defines relationships between property-value combinations. When a property-value combination in a relationship is assigned, so are the related property-value combinations.

  • Publication number: 20020124621
Abstract: The subject invention provides a sheet bending brake assembly for securing a work piece. The sheet bending brake assembly includes a clamping member having a lower leg extending therefrom and a pivoting arm pivotally supported by and extending from the clamping member. The pivoting arm defines a clamping area with the lower leg. A base supports the clamping members and provides support to the assembly while moving the pivoting arm between the open position and the clamped position. A guide mechanism reacts between the clamping member and the pivoting arm for moving the pivoting arm between the open position and the clamped position. The guide mechanism has a guide slot with a detent positioned within the guide slot between the first and the second ends for positioning the pivoting arm in an intermediate position to allow for precisely aligning the work piece.
