Abstract: A damping mechanism that includes a housing having fluid disposed therein and an inner circumferential surface, an axle shaft that is rotatable with respect to the housing, and a first vane having a distal end and being pivotally associated with the axle shaft. When the axle shaft rotates in a first direction, the first vane pivots to a deployed position, and when the axle shaft rotates in a second direction, the first vane pivots to a stowed position. A first clearance is defined between the distal end of the first vane and the inner circumferential surface of the housing when the first vane is in the deployed position, and a second clearance is defined between the distal end of the first vane and the inner circumferential surface of the housing when the first vane is in the stowed position. The second clearance is greater than the first clearance.

Abstract: A galley monument assembly that is configured to be positioned in the interior of an aircraft. The galley monument assembly includes a lower storage section that is adapted to receive at least one trolley cart and that includes a vertically oriented rear wall and two opposing side walls. The lower storage section defines a first storage depth. The galley monument assembly also includes an upper storage section that defines a second storage depth. The second storage depth is deeper than the first storage depth.

Abstract: A pivot bin assembly configured to receive luggage and be positioned in the interior of an aircraft. The pivot bin assembly includes an upper housing that includes a strongback and first and second side panels, a bucket that cooperates with the upper housing to define a bin interior, a first pivot mechanism operatively associated, with the first side panel and the bucket, and a second pivot mechanism operatively associated, with the second side panel and the bucket. The first and second pivot mechanisms are axially aligned along and are rotatable about a pivot axis such that the bucket pivots about the pivot axis with respect to the upper housing between an open position and a closed position.

Abstract: A damping mechanism that includes a housing with an inner circumferential surface defined by an assembly outer race, an axle shaft that is rotatable with respect to the housing, and a transmission assembly operatively associated with the axle shaft and disposed within the housing. The transmission assembly includes an assembly intermediate race. A fluid space that includes fluid therein is defined between the assembly intermediate race and the inner circumferential surface of the assembly outer race. A vane is disposed between the assembly intermediate race and the inner circumferential surface of the assembly outer race. The vane includes a restriction space defined therein. When the axle shaft rotates in the first direction, the transmission assembly transmits rotation from the axle shaft to the vane, and when the axle shaft rotates in the second direction, the transmission assembly transmits less rotation to the first vane than when the axle shaft rotates in the first direction.

Abstract: A monument assembly configured to be positioned interior of an aircraft that includes a galley module, a first lavatory module and a second lavatory module. The module is positioned between the first and second lavatory modules, and the first lavatory module and the galley module share a first inboard dividing wall that includes at least a first non-vertical wall section.

Abstract: A lavatory monument assembly configured to be positioned in the interior of an aircraft that includes a first wall and a second wall that are generally parallel to one another, and the second wall is longer than the first wall. The lavatory monument assembly further includes a third wall and a fourth wall, and the third wall and the fourth wall generally are perpendicular to the first wall and the second wall, and the third wall and the fourth wall connect to the first wall and the second wall to form a lavatory interior. The first portion of the fourth wall generally is parallel to the third wall, and a second portion of the fourth wall angles inwardly along generally straight lines into the lavatory interior, such that the area in the lavatory interior proximate the first wall is less than the area proximate the second wall.

Abstract: A lavatory monument assembly configured to be positioned in the interior of an aircraft that includes first, second, third and fourth walls that cooperate to define a lavatory interior, a door positioned on one of the first, second, third and fourth walls that allows access to the lavatory interior, and a toilet positioned within the lavatory interior. The toilet defines a first vertical plane that bifurcates the toilet and is positioned such that the first vertical plane is not parallel to the first wall. At least the first wall is pivotal between a stowed position and an expanded position. When the first wall is in the stowed position, the first, second, third and fourth walls define a first lavatory footprint and when it is in the expanded position, the first, second, third and fourth walls define a second lavatory footprint. The second lavatory footprint has a greater area than the first lavatory footprint.

Abstract: A PSU pod assembly that is configured to be positioned in the interior of an aircraft. The PSU pod assembly includes a PSU pod that includes a housing that includes a top, a bottom and first, second, third and fourth sides that cooperate to define a pod interior and a panel positioned above and connected to the PSU pod. The PSU pod includes at least first and second reading lights positioned within the pod interior that are configured to shine light below the housing and cabin lights positioned on or in the housing that are configured to shine light above the housing. The panel includes connectors that are configured to secure the PSU pod assembly to a component within the aircraft.

Abstract: An aircraft that includes a cabin that has a floor, side walls, a ceiling and an interior, a first class section positioned in the interior that includes a longitudinally extending first aisle extending therethrough, a first door positioned fore of the first class section, an economy class section positioned in the interior and aft of the first class section, and a longitudinally extending second aisle that extends parallel to the first aisle and that does not extend through the first class section. An economy class passenger that enters through the first door travels down the second aisle to enter the economy class section and never enters the first class section.

Abstract: A passenger seating arrangement for an aircraft cabin that includes first and second adjacent columns of at least two seats that define a first longitudinally extending center axis that extends approximately parallel to a longitudinal axis of the aircraft cabin. The seats in the first column face away from and form an angle with the first axis of between about 1° and about 44°, and the seats in the second column face away from and form an angle with the first axis of between about 1° and about 44°. Each seat in the first column is staggered fore of a seat in the second column.
