  • Patent number: 7574286
Abstract: The embodiments presented in this disclosure provide for systems and methods to control electrical machinery. In embodiments, the systems and methods control electrical machinery according to the usage of power on a power grid compared to the peak usage for that power grid. In one embodiment, a system receives a peak usage parameter, receives a current megawatt usage for the power grid, compares the current megawatt usage to the peak usage parameter, and powers off one or more electrical machines connected to the power grid if the current megawatt usage is near the peak usage parameter.

  • Patent number: 6108590
Abstract: A system for optimizing the operation of a plurality of irrigation systems includes at least one control computer, a storage device coupled to the control computer for storing data, a plurality of irrigation device controllers remotely coupled to each of the control computers, and a grid power monitor coupled to the computers for providing power grid demand and usage data. The system may also include GPS and GIS receivers to determine remotely position and soil condition and/or a plurality of sensors located in each of the irrigated fields which transmit soil information directly to the control computers. The control computers each in turn generate priorities of operation for the irrigation systems based on the soil condition information and most economical load operating periods from the electrical power utility.

  • Patent number: 5740038
Abstract: The system for optimization of irrigation system operation comprises a computer, a storage device coupled to the computer for storing data, a global positioning satellite transmission receiver coupled to the computer, a geographic information satellite transmission receiver coupled to the computer, a plurality of irrigation pivot controllers remotely coupled to the computer, and a grid power monitor coupled to the computer for providing power grid demand and usage data to the computer. The system may also include a plurality of sensors located in each of the irrigated fields which transmit soil information directly to the central computer and which supplement the information from the GIS satellite. The computer in turn generates priorities of operation for the irrigation systems based on the soil condition information and most economical load operating periods from the electrical power utility.
