  • Publication number: 20100058657
Abstract: An edging system for green roofing applications defines the margin between grow medium zones and vegetative free zones. An edge and restraint system comprises a edging structure having a substantially upright section having a height and a base section extending laterally from a the middle or lower end of the upright section on at least one lateral side thereof. The base section extends substantially perpendicularly from the upright section. The upright section and base sections may or may not include openings therethrough to allow drainage of water and the like. The upper end of the upright section is adapted to allow a restrainer piece to be releasably secured thereto in snap fit engagement.

  • Patent number: 7360289
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for use on a roof or the like which incorporates an insulation material. The invention allows workers to shave the insulating layer to smooth, remove high spots, or create slopes, valleys or sumps, in order to achieve positive slope for water drainage. As part of the invention, there is provided, an apparatus for milling the surface of a low slope substrate, comprising a milling device comprising a cylindrical tubular structure having an outer rotatable milling surface, said surface positionable adjacent said substrate and drivable in a rotary motion to mill the surface of the substrate; a milling device support upon which said milling device is mounted for movement in a milling direction; a mounting assembly for mounting said milling device to said support; said mounting assembly including means for adjusting the angle and depth of engagement of said milling surface to said substrate.

  • Publication number: 20060182692
Abstract: Methods of modifying the rate of systemic absorption of a drug administered to a subject by a pulmonary route, the method comprising covalently conjugating a hydrophilic polymer to a drug, wherein the drug has a half-life of elimination from the lung of less than about 180 minutes, to form a drug-polymer conjugate, wherein the drug-polymer conjugate has a net hydrophilic character and a weight average molecular weight of from about 50 to about 20,000 Daltons, and wherein the half-life of elimination from the lung of the drug-polymer conjugate is at least about 1.5-fold greater than the half-life of elimination from the lung of the drug, wherein the half-life of elimination from the lung is measured by bronchoalveolar lavage followed by assaying residual lung material.

  • Patent number: 6155759
Abstract: An apparatus for milling the surface of low slope substrate has a milling device, such as a saw, and a track along which the milling device may move. The track is supported above the substrate by a plurality of adjustable supports which have adjustment means for orienting the track vertically or at a desired angle to horizontal. A mounting assembly for the milling device has means for engaging the track and enabling movement of the assembly along the track with the milling device depending from the mounting assembly. Adjustment means coact with the milling device and the mounting assembly enabling the device to be oriented in a desired manner relative to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5659175
Abstract: A type of tomography is described, wherein occupancy of lattice sites in a microscopic sample of crystalline material is predicted. An electron beam is projected through the sample, at a specific angle, causing discernible spots in a detector, such as photographic film. Each spot corresponds to a row of atoms. The intensity of each spot indicates the number of atoms in the row, and the number is called a "line count." Projecting the electron beam at specific additional angles produces additional line counts. From all the line counts, a set of equations is derived. Each variable in the equations corresponds to a lattice site in the material. A solution to the equations is found by linear programming techniques, thus assigning a value to each variable. Each value indicates the probability of occupancy of a respective lattice site.

  • Patent number: 4706432
Abstract: A composite roofing system having a layer of insulation and a roof membrane is provided with an air seal structure about the insulation layer. The air seal preferably also coacts with a vapor barrier and is fastened to the roof deck and sealed to the roof membrane. The resulting roof system is independent of the flashing structure for the roof and incorporates the roofing system into the air seal for the entire building.
