Abstract: An instrument (12) separated from ground by a supradissipative resistance and having a surface (26) which is placed in electrical contact with a magnetic head of a disc drive assembly includes an electrically conductive receptacle (134) engaging and electrically connected proximate to the surface (26) of the instrument (12). The electrically conductive receptacle (134) is electrically coupled to ground for grounding the instrument (12) to prevent damage to the magnetic head caused by static discharge from the instrument (12).

Abstract: An electrostatic grounding system electrically grounds a conductive member of a fixture separated from ground by a supradissipative resistance. The fixture is arranged to be placed in electrical contact with a conductive portion of a disc drive assembly that is in electrical contact with a magnetic head of the disc drive assembly. An electrically conductive engagement device mechanically and electrically engages the conductive member in electrical contact therewith. An electrically conductive coupler is mechanically and electrically connected to the engagement device, and electrically conductive connection means is electrically connected between the conductive coupler and a source of ground potential. In one form, the fixture is a fluid dispenser and an electrically conductive receptacle engages the dispensing member. An electrically conductive mounting member is on the dispenser body, and an electrically conductive arm extends from the mounting member to the conductive receptacle.

Abstract: Air ionization control apparatus comprising a plurality of emitter lines suspended in the atmosphere above a work space, each line comprising a plurality of ion emitting stations spaced therealong and emitting positive and negative ions into the atmosphere with an elongated electrical conductor averaging bar. insulatedly mounted in the atmoshere among said stations for receiving an induced charge representative of the average level of ionization of the atmosphere. An electrical charge sensing means connected to the averaging bar is employed to provide a signal indicative of the average level of ionization present in the room environment.
