  • Patent number: 5212892
Abstract: A cutter head assembly attachable to a boom of an excavating machine. The cutter head assembly includes a frame and a cylindrical cutter drum under the frame and attached to the frame through a pair of motors and a pair of torque converters. A mounting bracket is provided on the top of the frame for attachment of the frame to the boom of an excavating machine. The cylindrical cutter drum has longitudinal cutter bars with teeth spaced along the length of the cutter bars. The torque converters are attached to the cutter drum with a pair of hub adapters. Resilient grommets are located between the hub adapters and the cutter drum to absorb shock occurring when the cutter drum strikes a hard surface or object. A supply pipe is mounted to the top of the frame to receive a solidifying agent, such as dry cement, for solidifying liquid waste. Four distribution pipes are connected to the supply pipe and extend downward through the frame to distribute the solidifying agent over the top of the cylindrical cutter drum.

  • Patent number: 5148615
Abstract: An improvement in a dredging apparatus for cooperating in removing a mixture of liquids and solids from a selected site. The dredging apparatus includes a frame with means for moving the frame and an arm assembly having one end movably connected to the frame. The improvement includes an auger housing having an auger opening formed through a portion thereof. The auger housing is connected to the end of the arm assembly. An auger is rotatingly supported in the auger housing. A pump is disposed near the auger housing and positioned so that a pump inlet opening is fluidic communication with the auger opening. The mixture enters the auger opening and is augeringly moved toward the inlet opening in the pump. The pump pumps the mixture from the auger opening through a discharge opening of the pump.

  • Patent number: 5025994
Abstract: An apparatus for grinding hypodermic syringes or needles, IV needles and other medical waste into relatively fine particles. The apparatus includes a housing having a case therein defining an inlet and an outlet. A plurality of rotors are disposed in the case, and each of the rotors has a plurality of radially outwardly extending teeth therein which interact with teeth on the other rotors to grind the syringes or needles. A discharge valve is provided for controlling the flow of particles discharged from the case. The teeth on the rotors are longitudinally and circumferentially spaced. Generally, the teeth on at least one of the rotors extend between the teeth on another of the rotors. Also, the teeth on at least a pair of the rotors have angled sides which are angled in opposite directions such that the angled sides of the teeth on one rotor generally face, and are aligned with, the corresponding angled sides of the teeth on the other rotor.

  • Patent number: 4819346
Abstract: An improved cutter head for a floating dredge of the type having a lowerable boom with cutter head on the lowerable end thereof. The cutter head includes a rotatable open axis cage of cutter bars mounted adjacent to and along a rectangular suction inlet so that material to be shredded and sludge material are drawn into and through the rotating cage for shredding. Teeth are mounted on the cage bars for digging and breaking dredge material encountered by the teeth. The cage is connected to a drive plate having shock absorbing grommets which absorb axial, tangential and radial shocks received by the rotating cage.
