  • Patent number: 10039622
Abstract: A method for removing a dental post from a tooth. The method includes (a) removing securing materials from around the dental post, (b) texturing the dental post to form a prepared dental post, (c) providing a dental post removal device with a hollow tubular structure and a fulcrum, (d) filling the hollow tubular structure with dental cement, (e) placing the dental cement-filled tubular structure over the prepared dental post, inserting a fluted file through the filled tubular structure and engaging file flutes between the prepared dental post and the wall of the tubular device and allowing the material to adhere together the tubular structure, the file, and dental post, and (f) applying a force on the fulcrum to remove the hollow tubular structure, the attached file and dental post from the tooth.

  • Patent number: 9848963
Abstract: A dental post removal device having a hollow tubular structure having a sidewall and distal and proximal open ends, an engaging feature positioned on insides of the sidewalls, and a fulcrum positioned on the hollow tubular structure adapted for pulling the hollow tubular structure and a dental post captured therein. The engaging features can be a series of openings formed through the sidewall of the hollow tubular structure, and/or the inner wall surfaces of the sidewall that is one of at least scored, textured, dimpled, coated with a high adhesion material or other type of surface preparation chemical, and/or internally threaded. The tubular structure is of generally constant outside diameter. The inner walls can either be of constant inner diameter, or can have an inner diameter that narrows from the distal end to the proximal end either continuously, or in discrete steps of increasingly smaller diameter.

  • Publication number: 20140241819
Abstract: A safety head bur with a working end with cutting and/or grinding head, a shaft, and a transition zone, which safety head bur provides enhanced safety when used. The cutting and/or grinding head is adapted to cut and/or grind, and has a rearmost diameter. A shaft is attached to the working end. A transition zone extends rearwardly from the rearmost diameter of the working end to a smaller diameter where the transition zone meets the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5658149
Abstract: A device is described which is useful for providing a dedicated access channel to the root canal of a tooth. The device, which is the frustum of a cone, has a hollow interior passageway adapted to receive and loosely accommodate the shank of a standard assortment of endodontic files. The vertical length of the cone is approximately 10 mm to 15 mm. The wider end of the conical device has an outer diameter of approximately 2.5 millimeters. In practice, the orifice of a root canal is exposed by drilling an access cavity. An appropriately sized endodontic file is selected which will fit within the orifice of the canal. The conical device is slid over the endodontic file until the wider end of the cone is adjacent to the file handle. The file tip is then inserted into the root canal, and the conical device is slid down the shaft of the file until it is brought to bear against the floor of the access cavity with the narrow end of the conical device juxtaposed to the exposed orifice of the root canal.
