  • Patent number: 9901688
Abstract: An apparatus and method for identifying the flexor retinaculum of the carpal tunnel, injecting an effective amount of an agent into at least a portion of flexor retinaculum or tissue adjacent thereto, wherein the agent is configured to weaken the flexor retinaculum. The system may further include means for increasing the tensile stress in the flexor retinaculum post-injection using hand exercises, thereby weakening its structural integrity and decreasing the pressure within the carpal tunnel that impairs median nerve function.

  • Patent number: 9860825
Abstract: A device may receive, from a mobile device and via a first radio access network, a request for a service. The device may receive a mobile device identifier that identifies the mobile device on a second radio access network. The second radio access network may be a different type of radio access network than the first radio access network. The device may provide the mobile device identifier to an equipment identity register. The device may receive, from the equipment identity register, an authentication indicator that indicates whether to permit or deny access to the service by the mobile device and via the first radio access network. The device may selectively permit or deny the mobile device access to the service, via the first radio access network, based on the authentication indicator.

  • Patent number: 9858268
Abstract: Chinese name transliteration is described. A Chinese name including a surname followed by a given name is received. The received Chinese name is parsed into a surname and a given name by: identifying any dual-character surnames in the received Chinese name, by referencing a list of known Chinese surnames; identifying any single-character surnames in the received Chinese name, by referencing the list of known Chinese surnames; and identifying, among the remaining characters in the received Chinese name, any characters not belonging to a dual-character or a single-character surname as a given name. The identified surname and the identified given name are transliterated into a Mandarin Pinyin representation. The Mandarin Pinyin representation of the surname and the given name is normalized into a pre-determined representation.

  • Publication number: 20170373386
Abstract: A system having a concealed communications element like a telecommunication antenna is described. More specifically, The system has a communications element that is concealed by a highly reflective multilayer polymer optical film 200. The first element of the multilayer polymer optical film is a core layer 202 that is made up of a multilayer optical stack. The multilayer optical stack of core layer 202 includes two alternating polymeric layers. The multilayer polymer optical film may optionally also include a protective layer 204 (for example, a hardcoat or an over laminate) that is positioned between the viewer and the core layer. The protective layer 204 may include one or more UV absorbers to aid in durability of the multilayer polymer optical film against UV-degradation. Multilayer polymer optical film 200 may optionally also include an adhesive layer 208 that is positioned between the core layer 202 and a surface onto which the multilayer polymer optical film is to be adhered.

  • Publication number: 20170365196
Abstract: A method of forming an elastic labeling band. The method includes covering a central portion of a web of tag material with a release agent, advancing the web of tag material longitudinally and disposing a layer of molten elastomer over the advancing web of tag material, including over the release agent on the central portion thereof. The layer of molten elastomer is disposed over the web of tag material so that the elastomer bonds only to those portions of the web not covered with the release agent. The method includes curing the elastomer to define, with the web bonded thereto, an advancing web assembly, and separating a longitudinal segment from the web assembly to define an elastic labeling band.

  • Patent number: 9836450
Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatuses are presented for a trained language model to be stored in an efficient manner such that the trained language model may be utilized in virtually any computing device to conduct natural language processing. Unlike other natural language processing engines that may be computationally intensive to the point of being capable of running only on high performance machines, the organization of the natural language models according to the present disclosures allows for natural language processing to be performed even on smaller devices, such as mobile devices.

  • Publication number: 20170219560
Abstract: The invention provides a method of identifying an antigen from a pathogen or a disease antigen comprising the use of an adenoviral vector array comprising two or more different adenoviral vectors, wherein each adenoviral vector comprises a nucleic acid sequence encoding a different antigen of a pathogen. The adenoviral vectors are administered to antigen presenting cells (APCs) in vitro or to an animal in vivo. The immunogenicity of the antigen is measured by screening for an immune response from effector T lymphocytes in vitro and by screening for the absence of pathogen-induced disease onset in vivo.

  • Patent number: 9621854
Abstract: A videoconference may be initiated between a plurality of endpoints. At least one of the endpoints may be coupled to a recording server, which may be configured to record the videoconference. A configuration may be selected (e.g., automatically or manually) for performing the recording. The endpoint (e.g., acting as an MCU) may transmit information to endpoints and may transmit recording information to the recording server. The recording information may be different from the videoconference information. For example, it may be in a “streaming friendly” format, at a different bit rate, encoded differently, have different inputs, etc. The manner in which the videoconference is stored and/or recorded may be based on the selected configuration. Clients may be configured to receive and display the videoconference from the recording server and may be configured to change the provided layout to different layouts, e.g., based on user input.

  • Publication number: 20170076240
Abstract: A control circuit for a retail sales facility presents via an active display a plurality of leaderboards that correspond to a variety of different associate-level performance statistics. These statistics can include, but are not limited to, the number of products that a given associate picks as part of moving products from a stock area to the retail sales product display area (over, for example, a given amount of time) and/or an aggregated monetary value of products that are so picked, a number of products that are so picked exclusively from a particular area of the product stock area, a number of manually-created requirements to so move products, and/or a number of products that are placed for storage in the product stock area itself. Such statistics can represent any time period of choice including, for example, a particular work shift such as a current work shift.
