    Abstract: An engine is equipped with a filter assembly with a structure that prevents assembly without a filter element in place. In addition, one can choose between a cleanable metallic screen filter element or a replaceable conventional pleated paper filter element. Depending upon the circumstances, the engine user can switch between the two different filter types throughout the working life of the engine.
