  • Patent number: 5942500
Abstract: A method and composition for reducing dietary fats while consuming a meal containing substantial portions of dietary fats, for reducing and inhibiting LDLs and triglyceride levels in the bloodstream by consuming the composition comprising a linear aminopolysaccharide of the structure similar to and including (1-4)--linked 2-amino-2-deoxy-Beta-D-gluco pyranose, lipoprotein lipase, calcium poly ascorbate and propanetricarboxylic acid. Preferably, the linear aminopolysaccharide of the structure similar to and including (1-4)--linked 2-amino-2-deoxy-Beta-D-gluco pyranose is made from fungal or yeast or other plant source. The lipoprotein lipase enhances the process and the acid acts as an appetite suppressant. If the composition is taken approximately 15 minutes before a meal containing significant amounts of dietary fat, the present invention will reduce weight, reduce bad cholesterol and triglycerides in the bloodstream, and increase HDLs, while suppressing appetite.

  • Patent number: 5865678
Abstract: An annular two-piece thrust washer for use between the end wall of a bearing cup and the axially outer ends of the bearings and trunnion of a universal joint assembly includes a first piece and a second piece. The first piece is sized to be disposed between the axially outer ends of the bearings and the end wall of the bearing cup. In a preferred embodiment, a circumferential recess is formed at the junction between the radially inner surface and the axially outer surface of the first piece. The second piece of the thrust washer is sized to be disposed between the trunnion and the end wall of the bearing cup. When assembled, the second piece of the thrust washer is disposed within the first piece. The outer circumferential portion of the second piece extends into the circumferential recess of the first piece. A predetermined small clearance is provided between the first piece and the second piece which allows a limited amount of relative movement therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5641259
Abstract: An inserter assembly for inserting containers onto a storage carousel. The containers may be inserted by moving them horizontally in a direction tangent to a curved portion of the storage carousel. The container is then latched into the rack by raising a vertically movable horizontal lifting member to lift the lower outside edge of the container and tilt the container toward the carousel to engage a latching mechanism on the rack. The latching mechanism includes leading and trailing hooks with a smooth and continuous bottom surface, with the leading hook having an inclined wing sufficiently wide to rest on the upper leading inside corner of the container until it hangs over the inside of the container.

  • Patent number: 5632165
Abstract: A security anchor for securing a portable article against theft comprises a block having a first face that is in confronting and contacting relationship with the article when the block is attached thereto. The block is formed with multiple slots that enter the block at a second face and are separated by webs of the block, and with a bore that enters the block at a third face and passes through the webs. A shaft that can be inserted in the bore has a plurality of first length segments that alternate along the shaft with a plurality of second length segments such that when the shaft is in a fully inserted position in the bore, the first length segments are located in the slots respectively. The first length segments are of smaller cross-sectional area than the second length segments and are connected to the second length segments by shoulder portions of the shaft. A slider can be fitted in each of the slots. Each slider can slide in its respective slot between a first position and a second position.

  • Patent number: 5531786
Abstract: This invention relates to a medical prosthesis containing a gel filler material comprising principally a cellulose derivative in water. The gel filler in the prosthesis may further contain a lubricating agent. The invention also relates to a method of augmenting or reconstructing a human breast comprising the steps of subcutaneously implanting a medical prosthesis with the gel filler material into a human body. In another aspect, the invention relates to a method of preparing medical protheses comprising the steps of filling an outer envelope of a medical-grade elastomer with the gel filler material and sealing the envelope to form a medical prosthesis. The components of the gel are preferably biocompatible so as not adversely to affect human beings. The materials used to make the gel filler are non-toxic. The prostheses of the present invention have similar characteristics to the human breast. These protheses may be used for breast augmentation or reconstruction.

  • Patent number: 5527395
Abstract: A method of cleaning and maintaining potable water distribution systems which have reduced flow due to an increase of scale, tuberculation, sediment, and the like on the inside surface of the pipe is disclosed. An aqueous acidic cleaning solution is heated and circulated through the pipe to be treated for a sufficient time to dissolve and loosen the scale and sediment, and the spent solution containing dissolved or suspended scale and sediment is flushed from the pipe to provide a cleaned pipe with improved water flow. It is also desirable to flush the water distribution pipe system with high pressure water after the treatment to remove loosened scale and sediment that was not removed during the circulation and flushing of the treating solution.
