  • Publication number: 20110047377
Abstract: Systems and methods for secure communications in a communications network (100), including a server (102) and a client device (104a, 104b), are provided. A method includes transmitting a communications session request from the client device to the server (304), the session request including an in-situ biometric code associated with a biometric sample of a user. The method also includes separately comparing at the server and the client device the in-situ biometric code and an associated canonical biometric code based on comparison criterion (208, 310), the canonical biometric code representing a biometric reference for the user. The method also includes generating an encryption key at the server and at the client device based on the in-situ and canonical biometric codes (218, 314). The method further includes establishing an encrypted communications session between the server and the client device if the in-situ biometric code meets comparison criteria at the server and at client device (220, 316).

  • Publication number: 20100232654
Abstract: A method and system for reconstructing iris scans for iris recognition is provided. A plurality of iris collection images of an iris is received. A single iris image of the iris is reconstructed using at least two of the plurality of iris collection images. Mosaicing may be used to combine at least two of the plurality of iris collection images into a single iris image. Inpainting methods, including PDE-based and exemplar-based techniques, may also be used to fill in area of missing information in an iris image.

  • Patent number: 7343675
Abstract: A method relating to a multi-functional, structural circuit, referred to as a structural circuit, is disclosed. The method can include thermoforming a liquid crystal polymer (LCP) circuit with a structural element (215). At least one circuit component can be attached to the surface of the LCP circuit (220).

  • Patent number: 7180264
Abstract: A micro-generator for providing electrical power to a battery charger capable of charging lithium ion, lithium polymer and other rechargeable batteries of the type which power portable electronic devices and MEMS. The micro-generator includes a micro-combustor and a thermoelectric module consisting of a number of quantum well thermoelectric panels connected between spaced heat spreaders, one of which is mounted in thermal communication with the micro-combustor. Different types of hydrocarbon fuel may be supplied to the micro-combustor where it is burned within a combustion chamber. The entire system is controlled in real time by a micro-controller which is powered upon start up by an ultra capacitor and thereafter by the electric power produced by the thermoelectric module.

  • Patent number: 6102758
Abstract: The Near Shore Spar Buoy Communication Platform is a semi-stable platform for data collection and retrieval for distances up to and over several miles offshore. It is an ocean-going computer housed in a modified spar buoy which is connected to a shore computer via a wireless Ethernet LAN. The Ethernet LAN is provided through use of wireless link technology capable of 2 to 11 megabits of bi-directional throughput and is expandable to higher data rates in the future. The platform behaves much like a spar buoy, which is essentially decoupled from waves and has a very small roll motion. An anti-heave appendage allows for the decrease of the heave motion normally associated with traditional spar buoys. The platform has a airfoil-like design which allows it to align itself with the current thus decreasing the overall yaw motion commonly associated with buoy communication platforms.
