Abstract: An illuminated advertising trash receptacle including stationary base having a power source, an illuminated carousel having transparent viewing areas and an interior space sized to receive a liner container, at least one lighting device to illuminate the advertisements, a turntable that supports the illuminated carousel on the stationary base and allows rotation of the illuminated carousel relative to the stationary base, and a drive mechanism for rotating the illuminated carousel relative to the stationary base. In another embodiment, an illuminated advertising trash receptacle includes a storage device adapted to store a plurality of electronic advertisements, a display screen adapted to display at least one of the plurality of electronic advertisements, and a controller adapted to change which of the electronic advertisements is displayed on the display screen.
