  • Patent number: 11254499
Abstract: A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a body assembly coupled to the chassis and defining a refuse compartment, an electric energy system, and a lift assembly. The lift assembly includes a pair of lift arms pivotally coupled to the body assembly, a pair of forks pivotally coupled to the pair of lift arms, a lift arm actuator positioned to facilitate pivoting the pair of lift arms relative to the body assembly, and a fork actuator extending between the pair of lift arms and the pair of forks. The fork actuator is positioned to facilitate pivoting the pair of forks relative to the pair of lift arms. The lift arm actuator and the fork actuator are powered by the electric energy system.

  • Publication number: 20200346861
Abstract: A refuse vehicle comprises a chassis, a body assembly, a power source, a tailgate, and a refuse interaction mechanism. The body assembly is coupled to the chassis and defines a refuse compartment configured to store refuse material. The refuse interaction mechanism comprises a refuse interaction element and an electric motor. The refuse interaction element is configured to selectively apply a force onto the refuse material within the refuse compartment. The refuse interaction element is moveable between a receiving position, in which the refuse compartment is configured to receive refuse material, and a force-exerting position, in which the refuse interaction element is configured to exert the force on the refuse material stored within the refuse compartment. The electric motor is powered by the power source and configured to selectively move the refuse interaction element between the receiving position and the force-exerting position.

  • Publication number: 20200346855
Abstract: A tipper assembly includes a base configured to couple to a tailgate of the refuse vehicle, an actuator powered by electric energy, an arm extending from and pivotally coupled to at least one of the actuator or the base, and an implement coupled to the arm. The implement is configured to engage with a refuse container such that operation of the actuator facilitates pivoting the implement and the refuse container from a base position to a dump position to dump contents within the refuse container into an opening in the tailgate.

  • Publication number: 20200346856
Abstract: A refuse vehicle comprises a chassis, a body assembly, a power source, and a side-loading lift assembly. The chassis is coupled to a plurality of wheels. The body assembly is coupled to the chassis and defines a refuse compartment configured to store refuse material. The side-loading lift assembly comprises a refuse container engagement mechanism and at least one electrically-driven actuation mechanism. The refuse container engagement mechanism is powered by the power source and is configured to selectively engage a refuse container. The at least one electrically-driven actuation mechanism is powered by the power source and is configured to selectively actuate the side-loading lift assembly between an extended position, a retracted position, and a refuse-dumping position.

  • Publication number: 20200346862
Abstract: A refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a body, a power source, and a tailgate. The chassis is coupled to a plurality of wheels. The body assembly is coupled to the chassis and defines a refuse compartment configured to store refuse material. The tailgate comprises a refuse receiving portion, a tailgate compaction assembly, and an electrically-driven actuation mechanism. The refuse receiving portion is configured to receive refuse material. The tailgate compaction assembly is selectively actuatable to compact the refuse material received by the refuse receiving portion into the refuse compartment. The electrically-driven actuation mechanism is powered by the power source and is configured to selectively actuate the tailgate compaction assembly.

  • Publication number: 20200347659
Abstract: Another implementation of the present disclosure is a refuse vehicle. The refuse vehicle includes a chassis, a body coupled with the chassis, a tailgate, an electric lock, and a fully electric tailgate actuator assembly. The body assembly defines a refuse compartment. The tailgate is coupled with a rear of the body and is transitionable between a first position to limit access to the refuse compartment and a second position to allow access to the refuse compartment. The electric lock is operable between an engaged state and a disengaged state to limit movement of the tailgate out of the first position when the electric lock is in the engaged state. The fully electric tailgate actuator assembly is configured to transition the tailgate between the first position and the second position.
