  • Publication number: 20250354442
Abstract: An omnidirectional slip bowl comprises a support frame having a central axis and defining an opening therein to receive a tubular passing into or coming out of a wellbore. A pair of pivot arms moves between an open configuration and a closed configuration. Each pair of pivot arms are located on opposite sides of the support frame. A plurality of actuators each have a first end connected to one of the pair of pivot arms. Each of the plurality of actuators moves the associated pivot arm between the open configuration and the closed configuration. A plurality of pairs of gripper assemblies associated with each pair of pivot arms lock the tubular in a fixed position and prevent movement of the tubular into or out of the wellbore. When the pair of pivot arms are in the closed configuration and the tubular is moving out of the wellbore, the pairs of gripper assemblies move in a first direction along the plurality of pivot arms and engage the tubular to prevent the tubular moving out of the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 12404729
Abstract: An omnidirectional slip bowl includes a support frame having a central axis and defining an opening therein to receive an oilfield tubular passing into or coming out of a wellbore. A plurality of pivot arms moves between an open configuration and a closed configuration. A plurality of actuating mechanisms each having a first end connected to one of the plurality of pivot arms, wherein each of the plurality of actuating mechanisms moves the associated pivot arm between the open configuration and the closed configuration. A plurality of gripping assemblies each associated with one of the plurality of pivot arms lock the tubular in a fixed position and prevent movement of the tubular from moving into or out of the wellbore. When the plurality of pivot arms are in the closed configuration and the tubular is moving out of the wellbore, the plurality of gripping assemblies move in a first direction along the pivot arm and engage the tubular to prevent moving out of the wellbore.

  • Publication number: 20250223876
Abstract: An apparatus includes a plurality of control valves for controlling operation of a plurality of jack legs within a jack leg mechanism. A central control panel generates a mode control signal. A control mechanism selectively activates and deactivates selected ones of the plurality of control valves responsive to the mode control signal from the central control panel and a position of a travel plate associated with the plurality of jack legs.

  • Publication number: 20250052118
Abstract: A traveling plate guide system includes a pair of guide rails, each of the pair of guide rails defining a hollow interior and a slot on one side thereof. The pair of guide rails is interconnected via a plurality of crossmembers. A pair of trolley assemblies each fit within one of the pair of guide rails. Each of the trolley assemblies has a flange that extends out of the slot on an associated guide rail. A traveling plate mounting bracket interconnects the flange of each of the pair of trolley assemblies with a traveling plate for mounting a rotary of a snubbing system. The pair of trolley assemblies moves up and down the pair of guide rails responsive to movement of the traveling plate connected to the traveling plate mounting bracket.

  • Publication number: 20250043634
Abstract: An apparatus for providing hydraulic power below a rotary table of a snubbing unit, comprising a swivel assembly including at least one hydraulic port therein. The swivel assembly defines a first hydraulic channel connected to the at least one hydraulic port. A rotary mounted within a rotary table has a second hydraulic port therein below the rotary table. The rotary defines a second hydraulic channel therein connected to the second hydraulic port. The rotary is connected to the swivel assembly such that the first hydraulic channel aligns with the second hydraulic channel to provide for hydraulic fluid flow therebetween. Hydraulic fluid is provided from the at least one hydraulic port through the first hydraulic channel of the swivel assembly and the second hydraulic channel of the rotary to the second hydraulic port below the rotary table.

  • Publication number: 20210254417
Abstract: hydraulic slip unit for a rotary drive of a rig floor comprises a main body including hydraulically operated slips disposed within a passage that can engage a pipe string within the passage to transmit vertical loads and torque for rotation of the pipe string. A hydraulic swivel is connected to the main body, wherein the swivel includes a first portion attached to the main body to rotate therewith and a second portion slidably mounted to the first portion to rotate relative thereto. Both first and second portions include oil passages therethrough in fluid communication with one another during relative rotation. During rotation of the main body, the second portion is connectable to static hydraulic supply lines that do not rotate, and fluid from the supply lines can travel through the respective oil passages to provide hydraulic power to the slips in the main body to selectively move them.

  • Publication number: 20150252633
Abstract: A powered clamp for transmitting torque to a drill pipe comprises an outer housing disposed around an axial central passage and connected to a plurality of carrier guides defining a plurality of radial slots. An inner housing defines a coaxial central passage, is rotatably connected to the outer housing, and defines a plurality of actuator slots having a spiral configuration relative to the centerline axis. A carrier is slidably disposed in each slot between the carrier guides and has a carrier pin extending into a respective one of the actuator slots. At least one powered linear actuator is connected between the outer and inner housing to selectively rotate the housings relative to one another. This rotation causes the carriers to move radially inward and outward as the carrier pins travel along the actuator slots, selectively gripping and releasing the drill pipe.
