These compositions and methods leverage the unique optoelectrical properties of quantum dots, fluorescently labeled nanoparticles, and gold nanoparticles, which allow reliable, real-time detection of extracellular vesicles and vesicle surface bound or lumenal molecules at single vesicle level.
