  • Publication number: 20070039976
Abstract: Portable dispensers and methods of use are disclosed herein. A portable dispenser includes an output device and a housing having a receiving area configured to accept a container having an opening and housing a viscous fluid (i.e., a disinfecting gel). The housing also includes a fastener for selective attachment to an article of clothing. The output device is selectively coupled to the container so that the viscous fluid may selectively pass from the container through the container opening and the output device. An output device of another portable dispenser is selectively coupled to the container so that the fluid may selectively pass from the container through the container opening and the output device without first being transferred from the container to the dispenser for storage. Methods for using the portable dispensers are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7148457
Abstract: A microwave water heating system includes a metal casing having an outer wall defining an interior casing chamber. An inner housing is positioned within the casing and includes an outer wall displaced from the casing outer wall to form an insulating vacuum space. The inner housing includes an inlet port connected to an upstream water source and an outlet port connected to a downstream conduit. The casing and inner housing include generally spherical configurations. The inner housing is configured to induce a vortex of a water stream flowing between inlet and outlet ports. At least one magnetron is mounted to the casing for transmitting microwaves into the inner housing for heating the water stream at the vortex. A float valve in the inner housing allows the water stream to flow and be heated upon demand as the valve operates according to upstream and downstream pressure differentials.

  • Patent number: 7032851
Abstract: A portable pill crushing device includes a housing having a base, a motor disposed in the housing, a battery for supplying electrical power to the motor, and a series of rotatably mounted rollers connected to the motor. A pressure plate is attached to the housing and is movable between a closed position in which a crushing chamber is defined between a first surface of the pressure plate and the outer surfaces of the rollers, and an open position in which the pressure plate can be used to provide a manual pre-crushing operation to reduce large pills to an acceptable size range. The housing has a vacuum lock system in its base for anchoring the crushing device to a smooth surface. Plastic enclosures are provided for encasing the pills to prevent direct contact of the pills with the rollers and the pressure plate to avoid contamination.

  • Patent number: 6964070
Abstract: A patient lifting apparatus is provided that attaches to a bed frame having a plurality of legs and a headboard. The apparatus includes an upright member, a boom mechanically associated with the upright member, an upper support bar that extends across the bed frame and secures the upright member to each side of the headboard, and a lower support bar that extends across the bed frame and secures the upright member to the legs. The upright member is supported for rotation about a vertical axis by upper and lower bearings on the upper and lower support bars, respectively. A telescoping foot member extends from the lower support bar and is movable between a stored position and an extended position for stabilizing the lifting apparatus. A support arm extends from a lower end of the upright member and rotates along with the upright member to transfer vertical forces into the floor.
