The forks of the robotic vehicle comprise at least one sensor arrangement. The sensor arrangement(s) can detect the size and location of the platform elements as the forks are inserted into the platform, enabling the platform type to be determined. The operation of the vehicle can then be controlled in accordance with the platform type.
