Patent number: 11358261Abstract: Apparatus for use with a tool assembly in operations of tightening or loosening threaded fasteners about an axis are disclosed, and in one example includes: a lower clamp assembly; an upper clamp assembly; a reaction adaptor assembly; and a spring assembly formed between the upper clamp assembly and the reaction adaptor assembly. Advantageously an operator can tighten or loosen all fasteners without having to change the initial setup of the apparatus. The lower clamp assembly eliminates the need for extra operators and heavy and bulky equipment to hold the apparatus near the fasteners. The upper clamp allows the operator to rotate the apparatus around with ease. The spring assembly stabilizes and eases vertical height adjustment of the apparatus. The reaction adaptor substantially negates reaction turning forces of the tool assembly during the operations. Drive knobs provide easy alignment of and quick and safe mounting of the tool assembly on the fasteners.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2019Date of Patent: June 14, 2022Assignee: HYTORC Division UNEX CorporationInventor: Calvin A. Publication number: 20210146508Abstract: This application discloses an apparatus 100 for use with an electrically, hydraulically and/or pneumatically driven torque tool for tightening or loosening inaccessible threaded fasteners including a drive extension assembly 110, a reaction assembly 120 and a socket assembly 130. Advantageously the present invention uses an external reaction member which holds on to two (2) or four (4) adjacent studs while turning a fastener with an extended drive ball and socket joint connection. It more efficiently distributes/reduces the side loads and system strains from the reaction forces on the bolts by bringing the reaction point much closer to the fastener being turned. It allows for a plurality of fastener approach angles and is adaptable to a plurality of fastener obstructions. It's relatively lightweight, easy to maneuver from fastener to fastener and overall user friendly.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2018Publication date: May 20, 2021Applicant: HYTORC Division UNEX CorporationInventors: Calvin A.
