  • Publication number: 20100037577
Abstract: An oversleeve for preventing crop material from wrapping around an agricultural implement shaft. The oversleeve is disposed over the implement shaft and affixed to a stripper pan so it does not rotate with the shaft. The oversleeve is preferably made of a polymer composite material. Removal of dirt between the shaft and oversleeve is effected by a helical groove arranged so the dirt is driven to the ends of the oversleeve.

  • Publication number: 20090107100
Abstract: A swing cylinder such as those used to offset an agricultural implement may experience larges forces as it reaches the ends of its travel. A cushioning system to mitigate these forces comprises a piston with wear rings engaged thereto. The wear rings block off a usual passageway for the hydraulic fluid to flow, and provide their own, much smaller passageway. The flow of hydraulic fluid is thereby restricted in the neighborhood of the extremes of piston travel. An additional aspect of the invention is that the wear rings are pushed out of their position blocking the passageway when hydraulic fluid pressure is applied to move the piston away from the extreme position, thereby completely removing the restriction to flow in that direction.

  • Publication number: 20080282647
Abstract: Large cylindrical bales of hay, straw, or other forage or fodder are usually wrapped with a filament-type product, typically twine, or a sheet-type product, typically netwrap material, after a bale has reached a predetermined size. A method and apparatus are disclosed that permits the bale to continue to form during part of the wrapping process. A delay occurs between the initiation of the wrapping step and the alarm for the operator to stop the forward movement of the baler. By inserting the wrap material to an entry throat of the baler, new crop material may be added to the bale while the leading edge of the wrap material travels around the bale. The operator is notified only when the feed of additional crop material needs to be stopped for the wrapping operation to conclude. The present invention is applicable to the use of sheet or filament wrapping materials for binding round bales.

  • Patent number: 7444747
Abstract: An improved roller assembly for use in machinery such as round balers is disclosed. The roller assembly of the present invention reduces sensitivity to varying dimensional tolerances on the roller assembly and the structure to which the roller assembly is mounted. At least one elastic member is used to permit the axial position of at least one of the bearings on the roller assembly shaft to vary. Spring washers provide a predetermined, axial force to at least one of the bearings.

  • Patent number: 7395756
Abstract: A belt tensioning system provides an improved starting principle in a large, round baler for agricultural crops. The tensioner comprises two arms, pivotally attached to one another. The front arm is pivotally attached to the baler. The rear arm is pivotally attached to the front arm, and may pivot downward under gravity when the bale chamber is empty of crop material. When pivoted down, the rear arm lowers the top of the bale forming region in the chamber, as defined by the belts. Additionally, the portion of each of the belts making up the rear of the bale forming region are reoriented in a more horizontal orientation, thus providing a forward force to aid in breaking the crop material and urging it forward to start the rolling of the bale.
