  • Patent number: 11990631
Abstract: A battery cabinet with a plurality of spaced apart shelves of equal width and depth. Each shelf supports a removable battery module. In turn, each module has a fixed adapter that holds batteries as a battery bank where the module and adapter occupy most of the space between shelves. Battery cells are vertically or horizontally aligned with terminals joined to comb-shaped straps with blades joined to battery terminals. The space between blades allows for thermal expansion without wear on terminals.

  • Patent number: 5724876
Abstract: A log cutting apparatus having a support frame, a cutting arm, and first and second hydraulic cylinders for pivotally actuating the cutting arm through a cutting arc. The support frame comprises two support members and a removable linking member for easy disassembly and transport of the log cutting apparatus. The support frame includes a cutting arm housing for protecting the cutting arm in a laid back position with the cutting side of the cutting arm disposed upwardly. The cutting arm passes through a vertical during the cutting stroke. The first hydraulic cylinder works in conjunction with a cam-link, actuating the cutting arm from a retracted position within the housing to an intermediate position through rotation of the cam-link. The second hydraulic cylinder actuates the cutting arm from the intermediate position to an extended position during which the actual log cutting is performed.

  • Patent number: 5103881
Abstract: A tree felling apparatus has a U-shaped base with a pair of laterally spaced arms defining a cutting area for receiving therein a tree to be cut and a chain saw mechanism movable through the cutting area for cutting a tree. The chain saw mechanism includes a saw bar which is tapered inwardly from its proximal end to its distal end for even distribution of bending stress across the saw bar.

  • Patent number: 5086684
Abstract: In an off-road vehicle or other transportable apparatus of the type having ground-engageable stabilizer legs, such as a knuckleboom loader, one of the stabilizer legs is equipped with a pivotable chain saw mechanism hydraulically-operated from an operator compartment for use in performing occasional cutting operations attendant to normal usage of the vehicle or apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4958670
Abstract: A tree felling apparatus having a U-shaped base with a pair of laterally spaced arms defining a cutting area for receiving therein a tree to be cut and having a chain saw mechanism movable through the cutting area for cutting a tree includes saw tracking device, an apparatus for adjusting the tension of the endless saw chain of the chain saw mechanism and a resilient member. The saw tracking device defines a tracking area for confined receipt of the distal end portion of the chain saw assembly during tree cutting movement thereof for limiting the deflection of the chain saw assembly which may be caused by reactive forces exerted by a tree being cut. The apparatus for adjusting the tension of the endless saw chain includes a support member mounted to the distal end of a saw bar of the chain saw mechanism and an adjusting member having an noise roller rotatably mounted thereto.

  • Patent number: 4763705
Abstract: Tree felling apparatus having a U-shaped base with laterally spaced hollow arms defining a cutting area for receiving therein a tree to be cut and having a chain saw mechanism pivotably mounted to the base centrally between the arms for pivotal cutting movement into and out of the cutting area through the hollow area in one arm of the base. The chain saw mechanism is dimensioned to occupy substantially the full cutting area at the completion of its cutting stroke, and has a distal transverse support flange adapted to be supported at its opposite ends within the hollow areas of each arm at the completion of the cutting stroke to assist the pivotal sw mounting in supporting and stabilizing the chain saw mechanism against damage by the tree.

  • Patent number: 4722258
Abstract: A hydraulically powered treelength log sawing apparatus has a log support lined with teeth opposing the outwardly-directed sawing force generated by its driveshaft-pivoted chainsaw. The chainsaw is driven by a hydraulic motor whose fluid exhaust flows through a conduit to an adjustable restriction which creates a backpressure in the fluid in the conduit. The magnitude of the backpressure is directly related to the speed of the motor and the saw, and the backpressure is directed to a hydraulic cylinder which forces the chainsaw into sawing engagement with logs on the support, thereby prevent stalling of the saw and in general causing the saw speed and engagement force respectively to be self-compensating and requiring no attention from the operator during sawing.
