  • Patent number: 9283323
Abstract: The present invention relates to a controller unit and methods for controlling an insulin pump. The controller unit includes a user input that receives a gain factor. The gain factor has been calculated based on historical data in relation to a patient. The controller unit includes a measurement input for receiving data representative of a measured blood glucose level for the patient. Processing logic of the controller unit is configured to apply the measured blood glucose level to a pancreatic beta-cell insulin secretion computational model to predict an insulin output level, apply the gain factor to the predicted insulin output level to determine a patient insulin deficiency level, and calculate a control signal for controlling the insulin output level of the insulin pump based on the patient insulin deficiency level. Methods are provided for optimizing the gain factor based on the historical data in relation to the patient.

  • Publication number: 20150328639
Abstract: A kit of parts comprising a set of two or more components and a substantially rigid box having provided on a surface thereof a visual representation of a sequence of ordered steps in a biological testing procedure. The box is provided with formations, coinciding with respective steps in said visual representation, adapted to permit insertion of said components through the surface of the box to allow the components to be supported in an upright position.

  • Publication number: 20150105279
Abstract: A method of assessing the suitability of a set of cosmetic and/or nutricosmetic and/or skin care products for an individual. The method comprises testing a sample of genetic material for an individual to identify the presence or absence of single-nucleotide polymorphisms at a predefined set of single-nucleotide locations. One or more weights for each location are identified in dependence upon the presence or absence of a single-nucleotide polymorphism at the location and the single-nucleotide location weights used in order to determine a product score for each of said products, a score being indicative of the suitability of a product to the individual.

  • Publication number: 20150091581
Abstract: Apparatus comprising a module for detecting a single nucleotide polymorphism, SNP, within a genome and comprising: four reaction chambers for receiving a fluid sample, the reaction chambers each containing a different one of the bases A, C, G, T, and a primer; a reference electrode which in use is immersed in said fluid sample; a pair of Ion Sensitive Field Effect Transistors, ISFETs, associated with each reaction chamber, the ISFETs of each pair comprising respective sensing membranes, or a common sensing membrane, exposed within the associated reaction chamber; and a plurality of difference detectors, each difference detector having a pair of inputs coupled respectively to outputs of ISFETs associated with different reaction chambers.

  • Publication number: 20140089007
Abstract: A method of associating a wireless sensor device to a user profile in a physiological sensor system, the system comprising a computer records system, at least one base station and a plurality of wireless sensor devices, each of the sensor devices being in contact with a user, the method comprising selecting or defining a user profile on the computer records system for a given user and monitoring signals received at the base station from respective wireless sensor devices. The method further comprises identifying a signal having a response that is characteristic of a pre-defined physiological act and associating the sensor device from which the identified signal is received with the user profile.

  • Publication number: 20130023058
Abstract: A method of selecting a product suited to an individual. The method includes: identifying a product category from a predefined set of product categories, each product category being associated with a set of products; on the basis of said selected product category, selecting a genetic testing cartridge type from a set of available cartridge types, each cartridge type being configured to perform a genotype profiling test on a polynucleotide sample; collecting a polynucleotide sample from the individual; performing a genotype profiling test on said polynucleotide sample using a genetic testing cartridge of the selected genetic testing cartridge type; and using the result of said test to select a product from within the identified product category.
