Abstract: A data providing device according to the present invention is connected to a host device. Once connected, the data providing device is capable of outputting data from a data source of the data providing device. Preferably, the data providing device is further capable of processing the data. After processing of the data has finished, a data interface of the data providing device is then operable to present the processed data to the host device so that it appears to the host device as though the processed data is the stored content of a removable storage device. By emulating a removable storage device in this way the data providing device of the present invention is able to successfully communicate dynamically output and processed data to the host device without the need for a user of the host device to install specific software interface drivers on the host device.
