Abstract: In some embodiments, a computer system detects that a digital content item associated with a second user is to be displayed in a data feed of a first user, determines that the first user has a connection with the second user that satisfies a connection criteria that the connection be of at least a predetermined degree, causes a first selectable user interface element to be displayed in association with the digital content item in the data feed of the first user based on the determining that the first user has the connection with the second user that satisfies the connection criteria, and causes a message creation element to be displayed in response to the a user selection of the first selectable user interface element, with the message creation element comprising an address field that is auto-populated to identify the second user as the only recipient of a message.
