  • Patent number: 11857230
Abstract: A medical device and method of expanding the maxilla of a patient via application of intra-orally generated forces and/or applying externally generated protraction forces to the maxilla of the patient is provided. The medical device can embody multiple configurations device that include skeletal anchorage device alone or in combination with a fixed aligner or an adjustable aligner.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 24, 2018
Date of Patent: January 2, 2024
    Assignee: Facegenics, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20210275226
Abstract: The present invention provides body anchored protraction devices. The protraction devices direct the negative forces of protraction over a large surface area on the chest and abdomen of a patient. The protraction devices employ a cantilever support rod and ultra-low friction joints to enable low compression on the head without restricting free movement.

  • Publication number: 20200405449
Abstract: A method of treating a maxillary deficiency in a patient in need thereof comprises coupling a first bone anchor to the buccal surface of the maxilla of the patient, coupling a second bone anchor to the buccal surface of the maxilla of the patient, attaching a device to the first bone anchor and the second bone anchor, and applying an expansion force through the device to the maxilla. A device comprises a facebow and a lateral attachment portion, coupled to the facebow. The facebow includes a first extra-oral attachment portion and a second extra-oral attachment portion, configured to be coupled to an external anchorage or protraction device, a first intra-oral attachment portion, configured to be coupled to a first bone anchor, and a second intra-oral attachment portion, configured to be coupled to a second bone anchor. The device may be coupled to an external anchorage or protraction device.

  • Publication number: 20200297388
Abstract: A system, components and methods is described to enable the treatment of maxillary deficiency and craniofacial dystrophy by positioning the maxilla via protraction forces applied extra-orally to skeletal anchorage devices embodied as bone anchors. The protraction forces are applied with minimal or no rotational moments being applied at the bone anchors. The shape and geometry of the bone anchors can be customized to fit the particular skeletal of individual patients.
