Abstract: A system and method for authorizing stoppage of piloting tasks performed by at least one pilot of an aircraft equipped with automatic piloting means is disclosed. A duration for which the stoppage is authorized is determined, the duration being determined based on the calculation of an instant of commencement of a next action, and the next action being an action not yet carried out that must be carried out first by the pilot. The duration is then displayed.
