  • Publication number: 20240108491
Abstract: Examples relate to pivotable fluid collection device tubing connectors. A urine collection system may include a urine collection device and a tube connector. The urine collection device includes a sump positioned within the urine collection device, a fluid impermeable barrier at least partially defining an opening, and a fluid permeable body within the urine collection device positioned to be proximate to a urethra of a user when the urine collection device is in use. The tube connector is positioned at least partially outside the urine collection device and has a first end region proximate to the urine collection device and a second end region distal to the urine collection device that is in fluid communication with the sump. The tube connector is adjustable between multiple orientations that adjust positioning of the second end region relative to the first end region whilst functionally maintaining the fluid communication between the second end region and the sump.

  • Publication number: 20220347004
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards fluid collection assemblies that include at least one length adjusting feature, fluid collection assemblies including the same, and methods of using the same. An example fluid collection assembly includes a fluid impermeable barrier. The fluid impermeable barrier includes a distal region, at least one distal end region spaced from the distal region, and at least one intermediate portion extending from the distal region to the distal region. The fluid impermeable barrier also defines at least one length adjusting feature (“LAF”) extending from the distal end region to the distal region. The LAF allows the length of the fluid collection assembly to change. The ability of the fluid collection assembly to change the length thereof allows a penis of a patient to be disposed in preferential locations within the fluid collection assembly.

  • Patent number: 11446174
Abstract: A skin care device includes a receptacle that includes an outlet port and defines a chamber that extends from the outlet port to a sump, which is defined by an impermeable portion of the receptacle, and is disposed for receiving one end of a tube inserted through the outlet port. Wicking material is received over a permeable portion of the receptacle for location over a particular region of the skin. When a vacuum is applied at the sump, the particular region is cooled by evaporative cooling when the particular region is moist. The device includes at least one vent that is so disposed as to promote air flow and to prevent a vacuum from occurring at a portion of the skin adjacent where the wicking material is located while the vacuum is applied. The device can be used for wound care and to dispose wicking material within a skin fold.

  • Publication number: 20220211537
Abstract: An example male urine collection device for collection of urine discharged from a subject is disclosed. The male urine collection device includes a receptacle defining an internal volume, the receptacle configured to receive a penis and to collect urine, and a plurality of flaps movable to access the internal volume of the receptacle, the flaps configured to bias against the penis when the penis is at least partially received by the receptacle. In an embodiment, a male urine collection device includes a receptacle defining an internal volume, the receptacle configured to collect urine, and a clamshell having two halves movable with respect to each other via a hinge, the clamshell configured to close around the penis to secure the receptacle about the penis. The clamshell is removably secured to the penis via friction.

  • Patent number: 10850014
Abstract: A liquid collection device for use in drawing liquid from an opening in a body of a person or an animal. The device includes a perforated container, and an outlet port. The perforated container defines a chamber shaped to collect liquid drawn into the chamber through perforations in the container. The outlet port enables liquid to be drawn from the chamber by a partial vacuum applied at the outlet port. The container is configured to receive wicking material that covers at least some of the perforations and is also configured and dimensioned for placement of the wicking material in, or over approximately an exposed breadth of, an opening in a person or an animal, so that upon said placement of the container with at least some of the perforations being covered by said wicking material, when a partial vacuum is applied at the outlet port, liquid can be drawn from said opening through the wicking material and into the chamber and from the chamber through the outlet port.

  • Publication number: 20190307597
Abstract: A urine collection device has a chamber assembly, which includes a layer of wicking material and porous material. The porous material is configured to form a chamber in which urine can be collected for transport; and the wicking material is disposed about the porous material. The chamber has a port for receiving a tube so that urine collected within the chamber can be transported from the chamber by being drawn from the chamber when a partial vacuum is applied within the chamber via the received tube. The chamber assembly is so dimensioned and configured that opposing portions of the assembly are sufficiently adjacent as to define an opening through which the head of a penis can be inserted. A layer of impermeable material is so attached to the chamber assembly as to cover one side of the opening and thereby provide a receptacle for receiving the head of an inserted penis.

  • Publication number: 20160367226
Abstract: A urine collection device and a moisture-wicking article for use in a system for transporting urine voided from the urethra. The collection device includes an elongated container. The moisture-wicking article is wrapped and secured over an array of side openings in the container, and is disposed in contact with a region surrounding the urethral opening. Urine is drawn from the moisture wicking article through the side openings and into a chamber within the container, in which a plurality of subdivisions of the chamber extend from one end of the container adjacent the array of side openings; a tunnel extends from an output port at the one end of the container; and a collection space is adjacent a closed other end of the container. The chamber subdivisions extend to the collection space so that urine occupying the collection space can be drawn to the output port from the collection space through the tunnel.
