Publication number: 20240078591Abstract: Based on orders fulfilled by shoppers of an online concierge system, the online concierge system identifies items in an order that are difficult to find in a warehouse in which the order is fulfilled. When a shopper obtains a difficult to find item from the warehouse, the online concierge system prompts the shopper to provide information for finding the difficult to find item in the warehouse. The online concierge system stores the information for finding the difficult to find item from the shopper in association with the difficult to find item and with the warehouse. Subsequently, when a different shopper is fulfilling an order from the warehouse including the difficult to find item, the online concierge system displays the information for finding the difficult to find item in the warehouse to the different shopper.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 14, 2023Publication date: March 7, 2024Inventors: Mingzhe Zhuang, Camille van Horne, Christopher Rudnick, Benjamin Knight, Chris Jenkins, Viktoriya Andonova, Djordje Gluhovic, Riddhima Sejpal, Maksim Golivkin, Sharath Rao Karikurve

Publication number: 20240062273Abstract: In a delivery service, a picker retrieves items specified in an order by a customer. If a picker encounters an issue with an item in the order, the picker may select, via a user interface, the item and an associated template message, which requests input from the customer regarding a course of action for the item, to send to the customer. The customer may select, via another user interface, a template message describing a course of action for the item. In response to receiving one of a subset of template messages, the online concierge system displays via the user interface, a set of replacement options to the customer, who may select one of the replacement options to be sent to the picker with the template message.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 1, 2023Publication date: February 22, 2024Inventors: Camille van Horne, Philip Goolkasian

Publication number: 20240037571Abstract: An online concierge system for fraud detection in customer orders fulfilled by a picker. A picker client device, with an installed picker application, sends a first list of items related to a fulfilled customer order. Separately, a transaction log containing a second list of items purchased is received from the retailer's inventory system. These lists are compared to identify any unmatched items. A pretrained fraud detection model, trained on historical data with labeled instances of fraud or non-fraud, is applied to the unmatched items to assess the likelihood of fraud. If this likelihood surpasses a predefined threshold, the item is flagged as a fraudulent instance. This determination is then sent to an auditor client device for further action.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2023Publication date: February 1, 2024Inventors: Sean Cashin, Camille van Horne, Maksim Golivkin, Benjamin Peyrot

Patent number: 11823214Abstract: An online system receives a completed order of items fulfilled by a picker and a transaction log of the completed order from a retailer where the completed order was fulfilled. The online system compares the completed order of items to the transaction log of the completed order to identify one or more unmatched items. The online system generates, at an auditor client device, a user interface that shows the unmatched items and an option to mark each unmatched item as a fraud instance. The online system receives an indication of a fraud instance for one of the unmatched items from an auditor via the user interface. The online system adds a value of the fraud instance to a fraud total of the picker. If the online system determines that the fraud total for the picker exceeds a threshold, the fraud module deactivates the picker's account.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2020Date of Patent: November 21, 2023Assignee: Maplebear, Inc.Inventors: Sean Cashin, Camille van Horne, Maksim Golivkin, Benjamin Peyrot

Publication number: 20230334556Abstract: An online concierge system sends an order associated with a customer to a shopper for fulfillment at a store. The order specifies an ordered amount of an item. The online concierge system receives an image of a receipt for the order from the shopper after fulfillment of the order, applies an image processing algorithm to identify the item in the image of the receipt, and identifies a measured quantity within the image. The measured quantity represents an actual amount of the item purchased at the store. The online concierge system determines a difference between the actual amount and the ordered amount of the item, and determines an amount to be charged or reimbursed to the customer based in part on the difference between the actual amount and the ordered amount of the item.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 23, 2023Publication date: October 19, 2023Inventors: Camille van Horne, Sean Cashin
