  • Publication number: 20210274570
Abstract: An apparatus for wireless communication includes a memory and a processor coupled to the memory. The processor is configured to send a data session establishment request to establish a data session with a network device using a wireless communication network. The data session establishment request has a first field to indicate a requested network slice for the data session. The processor is further to receive an indication of a granted network slice for the data session and to receive an indication of a back-off timer value from the network device. The processor is further configured, after expiration of a back-off timer based on the back-off timer value, to send a first message associated with the granted network slice and to send a second message having a second field corresponding to the first field of the data session establishment request.

  • Publication number: 20210243727
Abstract: In a configuration parameter update method, a first device requests a second device to monitor a target event, where the target event includes one or more of a service change event, a service volume impact event, and a service volume change event. The first device receives first information of the target event from the second device, where the first information includes one or more of service change information, service volume impact information, and service volume change information. The first device updates a PC5 configuration parameter based on the first information. Based on the method, the first device can receive the first information in time, and further update the PC5 configuration parameter in time.

  • Publication number: 20210168573
Abstract: In a parameter configuration method, when the terminal requests a parameter of the PC5 interface, a home platform server of the terminal generates a configuration rule for the configuration parameter, requests first configuration parameters from configuration entities capable of configuring the PC5 interface, and then combines, according to the configuration rule, the first configuration parameters generated by the configuration entities, to obtain a second configuration parameter used to configure the PC5 interface. The home platform server of the terminal directly or indirectly controls, by generating the configuration rule, the configuration parameter finally used to configure the PC5 interface.

  • Publication number: 20210136645
Abstract: Various aspects include methods for supporting handover of a Voice over Internet Protocol (IP) (VoIP) call, such as a Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi) call, with a user equipment (UE). Various aspects may enable VoWi-Fi call handover from support via an evolved Packet Data Gateway (ePDG) to support via Long Term Evolution (LTE) when Voice over New Radio (NR) (VoNR) is not supported by a User Equipment (UE) computing device and/or a fifth generation (5G) standalone (SA) (5G SA) network in which the UE is located.

  • Publication number: 20210125501
Abstract: In an IoT platoon communication method, an IoT platform plans and manages a communication mode of a platoon in a traveling process. In the traveling process, the platoon selects, based on a communication mode plan sent by the platform, a communication mode corresponding to a current location of the platoon for communication.

  • Publication number: 20200336953
Abstract: Wireless communication methods, devices, and systems to reduce latency when network access (e.g., cellular network access) is barred are described. A method includes receiving, by a user equipment (UE) from an application, a request for at least one of establishment of a packet data unit (PDU) session or uplink (UL) data transfer via a previously established PDU session. The method additionally includes evaluating that access to a first network (e.g., a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network) is barred. The method also includes determining that the access barring time exceeds a threshold, and checking, in response to the determining, that configured policies permit the PDU session to be on a second network (e.g., a non-3GPP network). The method further includes transferring data of the PDU session in accordance with the configured policies. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

  • Patent number: 10791512
Abstract: The present disclosure provides user equipment power consumption and secondary cell (SCell) activation latency reductions in wireless communication systems. For example, a UE may determine that a secondary cell activation condition has been satisfied. The UE may further transition to a secondary cell activated state based on determining that the secondary cell activation condition has been satisfied, the secondary cell activate state corresponding to a dormant SCell state. The UE may operate at least in the dormant SCell state.

  • Patent number: 10750419
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for serving cell management of a user equipment (UE) are presented. Particularly, methods and apparatuses are presented for suppressing a serving cell change based on a speed of the UE. For instance, an example method is presented for serving cell management that may include determining that a serving cell change condition exists for an initiation of a serving cell change for the UE, wherein the serving cell change comprises changing a serving cell of the UE from a macro cell to a low power cell. In addition, the example method may include obtaining a speed of the UE and suppressing the initiation of the serving cell change based on the speed of the UE.

  • Publication number: 20200082727
Abstract: A method for controlling a vehicle platoon includes determining whether a vehicle platoon is capable of safely passing through a weight-limited road section, generating segment information of the vehicle platoon when the vehicle platoon is incapable of safely passing through the weight-limited road section, and sending this information to a lead vehicle in the vehicle platoon. The lead vehicle can then segment the vehicle platoon based on the segment information.

  • Patent number: 10419170
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus transmits, by a user equipment (UE), a packet to a network entity, while the UE is in a radio resource control (RRC) connected mode. The apparatus determines an acknowledgment (ACK) is absent for the transmitted packet. The apparatus determines to retransmit the packet based at least on whether the UE is in the RRC connected mode or on a type of the packet, upon determining the ACK is absent. The apparatus may determine to retransmit the packet by retransmitting the packet upon determining the UE is in the RRC connected mode. The apparatus may determine to retransmit the packet by suppressing retransmission of the packet upon determining that the UE is not in the RRC connected mode.

  • Publication number: 20170019858
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communications. In some aspects, a device may determine, during a first time period when a power saving feature is disabled, a first performance parameter associated with an application executing on a user equipment (UE). The device may determine, during a second time period when the power saving feature is enabled, a second performance parameter associated with the application executing on the UE. The device may determine whether to enable or disable the power saving feature for the application based at least in part on the first performance parameter and the second performance parameter.

  • Patent number: 9369949
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for determining a quality estimation of a wireless network that may be used to determine whether a particular wireless network meets one or more criteria for association with a station. The quality estimation may be based on a load quality of a basic service set (BSS) of an available wireless network and/or one or more wide area network (WAN) metrics associated with the wireless network. A station may evaluate such load quality and WAN metrics prior to association, and/or after association with a wireless network.
