Publication number: 20070021995Abstract: A computer-implemented method for analyzing business processes described in a business process execution language includes mapping a workflow abstract model graph from each of a plurality of business process descriptions corresponding to the business processes, identifying message exchange patterns between the business processes, and merging the workflow abstract model graphs into a common graph without connections between nodes associated with the plurality of business processes descriptions. The computer-implemented method further includes adding arcs between nodes of the different business processes descriptions within the common graph according to a merging rule and the message exchange patterns, and mining the common graph for a frequency of path execution, wherein a path is a set of nodes connected by the arcs.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2006Publication date: January 25, 2007Inventors: Candemir Toklu, Benoit Dubouloz

Patent number: 7096179Abstract: A method of content grouping based on a corresponding text includes reading from a content list file for a plurality of content groups, and extracting a key phrase set for each content group. The method includes determining, for each content group, a unique score and a non-unique score, determining a unique threshold and a non-unique threshold, and selecting a content group according to a comparison between the scores and the thresholds.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2001Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Siemens Corporate Research, Inc.Inventors: Weiyu Zhu, Shih-Ping Liou, Candemir Toklu

Patent number: 6724915Abstract: A method for tracking a video object in a time-ordered sequence of image frames, comprises the steps of (a) identifying the object to be tracked in a first frame and determining its shape in the first frame; (b) selecting another frame, referred to as the last frame and identifying the shape of the object in the last frame; (c) selecting a number of intermediate frames between the first and last frames; (d) automatically identifying the shape of the object in the intermediate frames; and (e) interpolating between all of the frames in the sequence so as to determine the trajectory of the object in all of the frames.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 1998Date of Patent: April 20, 2004Assignee: Siemens Corporate Research, Inc.Inventors: Candemir Toklu, Shih-Ping Liou

Patent number: 6697564Abstract: A system for browsing and editing video, in accordance with the present invention, includes a video source for providing a video document which includes audio information, and an audio classifier coupled to the video source, the audio classifier being adapted to classify audio segments of the audio information into a plurality of classes. An audio spectrogram generator is coupled to the video source for generating spectrograms for the audio information to check that the audio segments have been identified correctly by the audio classifier. A browser is coupled to the audio classifier for searching the classified audio segments for editing and browsing the video document. A method for editing and browsing a video, in accordance with the invention, includes providing a video clip including audio, and segmenting and labeling the audio into music, silence and speech classes in real-time.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2000Date of Patent: February 24, 2004Assignee: Siemens Corporate Research, Inc.Inventors: Candemir Toklu, Shih-Ping Liou

Patent number: 6580437Abstract: A system for organizing digital videos to archive and access them at different levels of abstraction uses data available from a closed-caption text along with off-the-shelf natural language processing tools to segment the video into self-contained story sections and speaker blocks. If the subject changes are marked, the system uses these points to divide the video into distinct stories which are represented as nodes attached to the root node in a tree structure and groups speaker segments belonging to a story under the story node as its children.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2000Date of Patent: June 17, 2003Assignee: Siemens Corporate Research, Inc.Inventors: Shih-Ping Liou, Candemir Toklu, Madirakshi Das

Patent number: 6549643Abstract: A system and method for selecting key-frames to generate a content-based visual summary of video and facilitate digital video browsing and indexing, which provides a real-time approach for key-frame selection irrespective of the available computation power. A method for selecting key-frames according to one aspect of the present invention is based on quantifiable measures such as the amount of motion and behavior of curves defined statistically or non-statistically, i.e. by finding the monotonically increasing segments of a curve, instead of thresholding the statistically defined image dissimilarity measures.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1999Date of Patent: April 15, 2003Assignee: Siemens Corporate Research, Inc.Inventors: Candemir Toklu, Shih-Ping Liou

Publication number: 20020051077Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system and method for comprehensively generating summaries of digital videos at various lengths and in different formats. In one aspect, the system analyzes closed-caption test to find summary sentence(s) for each story in the video, which are ordered in terms of their selection order. Upon selecting a presentation format, a set of images, video clips or an already-prepared video summary for each story is found. Text-to-speech tools can then be used to audit the summary sentences or capture the audio clips from the video with respect to the summary sentences.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 19, 2001Publication date: May 2, 2002Inventors: Shih-Ping Liou, Candemir Toklu, Madirakshi Das

Patent number: 5907626Abstract: A method for motion tracking and constructing a mosaic of video objects is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method for synthetic object transfiguration from a mosaic. A 2-D triangular mesh is employed to represent a video object, which permits to describe the motion of the object by the displacements of the node points of the mesh, and to describe any intensity variations by the contrast and brightness parameters estimated for each node point. Using the temporal history of the node point locations, the nodes of the 2-D mesh are continued to be tracked even when they become invisible because of self-occlusion or occlusion by another object. By adding new nodes or updating the 2-D triangular mesh, any uncovered parts of the video object are incrementally added to the mosaic. A finite number of views representing the constructed mosaic are selected and used for synthetic transfiguration of a replacement object in place of the original one.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1997Date of Patent: May 25, 1999Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Candemir Toklu, A.
