Abstract: Ventilator management systems are provided. In one aspect, a ventilator management system includes a memory that includes an initial configuration profile configured to designate operating parameters for a ventilation device, and a processor. The processor is configured to receive ventilator data from the ventilation device, the ventilator data includes at least one of operating parameters of the ventilation device or physiological statistics of a patient associated with the ventilation device, and determine, based on the ventilator data, a modification to the initial configuration profile for the ventilation device. The processor is also configured to generate a modified configuration profile for the ventilation device based on the determined modification. Methods and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: A pharmacy workflow management system may include a processor and a memory. The memory may include instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive, from at least one healthcare device, at least one information item pertaining to progress of delivery of a first medication of a first order, where additional medication is required for the first order when the delivery is complete, receive a second order for a second medication from a healthcare system, the second medication being different than the first medication, and schedule a first preparation of the additional medication for the first order and a second preparation of the second medication of the second order such that the additional medication is prepared and available upon completion of the delivery of the first medication, where the scheduling is based at least in part on the at least one information item.

Abstract: Systems for use with a medical device for reducing medication errors are provided. In one aspect, a system includes a medical device that is configurable with operating limit parameters for providing medication to a patient, and a limiting system. The limiting system includes a memory that includes patient-specific information for the patient and a database includes acceptable operating parameters for providing the medication to the patient using the medical device, and a processor. The processor is configured to compare the acceptable operating parameters with the patient-specific information, and provide a modification of the operating limit parameters for providing the medication to the patient based on the comparison of the acceptable operating parameters with the patient-specific information. Abstract: A healthcare communication system may include a communication network along with healthcare systems and healthcare devices that are communicatively coupled to the communication network. At least one of the healthcare systems may transmit first messages that include orders for patients over the communication network to the healthcare devices. The healthcare devices facilitate providing healthcare to the patients, and transmit, to the healthcare system over the communication network and in response to receiving the first messages, second messages that indicate that the first messages comprising the orders have been received, The healthcare devices may transmit, to the healthcare system over the communication network and while the orders are being administered, third messages that each include information relating to a progress of one of the orders.

Abstract: A healthcare validation system may include a processor and a memory. The memory may include instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive an order for a medication from a healthcare system, receive, from at least one healthcare device, at least one information item pertaining to progress of delivery of the medication to a patient, wherein the at least one healthcare device facilitates the delivery of the medication to the patient, validate the medication being delivered to the patient based at least in part on the received order and the received at least one information item, and store an indication of whether the medication being delivered to the patient was validated. In one or more embodiments, the processor may provide an alert to a user device of a healthcare professional when the medication being delivered to the patient is not validated.

The memory may include instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to determine when a user device is within a proximity of a healthcare device or a patient, receive information related to the healthcare device or patient from multiple healthcare systems, when the user device is determined to be within the proximity of the healthcare device or the patient, and transmit, to the user device over the communication network, at least a portion of the information. Abstract: Methods for facilitating safe use of a medical item are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a first identifier for a medical entity located in an institution. The medical entity includes at least one of a patient, medical device, medical location, or medical item. The method also includes receiving a second identifier for a first course of action associated with the medical entity. The method further includes generating, based on a history of the medical entity and the first course of action associated with the medical entity, a second course of action for the medical entity, and providing a notification to a device indicating the second course of action. Abstract: Methods for monitoring delivery of a medication are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving first information indicating an order for a fluid medication in a container for a patient, and second information indicating a current status of delivery of fluid medication to the patient. The method also includes determining whether the order for the fluid medication for the patient is consistent with the current status of delivery of fluid medication to the patient, and providing an alert indicating an inconsistency between the order for the fluid medication and the current status of delivery of fluid medication when the order for the fluid medication for the patient is inconsistent with the delivery of fluid medication to the patient. Abstract: A multichannel infusion system for use with a hemofilter includes first and second measurement devices that measure the weight of a replacement fluid in a first receptacle and an ultrafiltrate in a second receptacle, a first pumping module configured to accept a first desired flow rate and deliver the replacement fluid from the first receptacle to the hemofilter at the accepted first desired flow rate, a second pumping module configured to accept a second desired flow rate and remove the ultrafiltrate from the hemofilter to the second receptacle at the accepted second desired flow rate, and a control system in communication with the first and second measurement units and the first and second pumping modules. The control system is configured to adjust the first and second desired flow rates based on the measurements made by the first and second measurement devices.

A common configuration database includes medical treatment guidelines and device operating characteristics for a plurality of patient care device types. A processor operatively connected to the configuration database is programmed to construct at least one device-specific configuration dataset for a selected device behavior from the common configuration database and load the device-specific dataset into the memory of a patient care device. Further, the device-specific configuration datasets may contain device communication information, including communication protocols and data structures, for a plurality of patient care devices types and behaviors to enable communication between patient care devices.

Abstract: A system and method of managing therapy provided to patients in an institution. The system monitors all aspects of the medication delivery to a patient, as well as other information related to the patient, such as values of vital signs, laboratory results and patient factors such as history, diagnosis, allergies and the like. The system includes one or more databases of information, including institutionally developed rules, guidelines and protocol representing the best medical practices of the institution. The system provides alerts and/or recommendations based on the application of the rules to the information being monitored, and alerts care givers accordingly, providing for dynamic adjustment of the patient's therapy. The system also monitors the status of the alerts, and if no action is taken in a selected period of time, may escalate the priority of the alert and/or halt the delivery of medication to the patient until the alert is resolved.

Abstract: A dispensing system has a cartridge with a body having a plurality of bins and a plurality of attached lids that cover the respective bins when the lids are closed. The body has an external connector and the lids are opened by receipt of a command signal through the connector. The system also includes a cabinet with a docking location configured to accept a cartridge. The cabinet has a docking connector that connects to the cartridge connector when the cartridge is placed on the docking location. The cabinet also has a controller that sends the command signal through the docking connector to the cartridge to open one or more of the lids.

The non-stick tubing comprises a plastic resin mixture including a first plastic resin component and a second plastic resin component, the second plastic resin comprising a medical grade amide compound, the plastic resin mixture extruded by an extruding apparatus as a mono-layered tube such that the medical grade amide compound is present on an inner surface of the medical tube after extrusion to promote release of contacting surfaces of the inner surface of the medical tubing after contact.
