  • Publication number: 20210403667
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to improving insulation properties of foams by employing an azeotropically-modified blowing agent that preserves or improves R-value at various temperatures such as lower than ambient temperatures (below 24° C.). The present disclosure also provides foams with improved long-term thermal resistance (LTTR).

  • Patent number: 10836882
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a modified polyester polyol composition useful in the formulation of polyurethane and polyisocyanurate cellular polymers for use in making foam articles with hydrocarbon blowing agents. The modified polyester polyol composition comprises the reaction product of a polyol with an EO/PO block copolymer having a weight average molecular weight from 1,000 to 20,000 g/mol and has a viscosity in the range of 100 to 10,000 centipoise, as determined at 25° C. according to the ASTM D-4878 method.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 7, 2017
Date of Patent: November 17, 2020
    Assignee: INVISTA North America S.a.r.l.

  • Publication number: 20060223925
Abstract: This invention relates to toluate ester compositions and their use as solvent, plasticizers, extender and/or diluents in binder formulations, a method of producing such ester compositions, as well as polymer compositions containing such liquid ester compositions. The method of making toluate based esters by reacting methyl-p-toluate with ethylene glycol, diethylene or triethylene glycol, butanediol, etc. More particularly, this invention relates to the mono-or di-ester of methyl toluic acid with a diol containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms that are low viscosity liquids at 25° C. The most common polymer that employs plasticizer is polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Typical amounts of plasticizer in PVC are from about 3 wt. % to about 50 wt. %. Phenolic resins generally require solvents, diluents and/or extenders that reduce the volatility and viscosity of the resin, especially when it is used in building and automotive products. Typical amounts of solvent are from about 5 wt. % to about 65 wt. %.

  • Patent number: 5399707
Abstract: A process is provided whereby S(+)-ibuprofen or R(-)-ibuprofen L-lysinate salt is produced by selective precipitation from a mixture containing enantiomers of ibuprofen and L-lysine. The quantity of L-lysine is not more than about a molar equivalent of the quantity of one of the enantiomers in the ibuprofen enantiomeric mixture. Upon precipitation of one ibuprofen enantiomer from the mixture, the overall precipitate and reaction mixture can be held for a sufficient period of time at a second temperature to allow the first precipitate to redissolve into the reaction mixture and the other ibuprofen enantiomer to precipitate out of the mixture in the salt form. Optically active ibuprofen is racemized by being heated at 100.degree. C. to 300.degree. C. in the substantial absence of other materials.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 10, 1994
Date of Patent: March 21, 1995
    Assignee: Hoechst Celanese Corporation
Inventors: Apurba Bhattacharya, John R. Fritch, Carl D. Murphy, Larry D. Zeagler, Carina A. McAdams
