Abstract: Systems and methods for providing a universal platform for at-home health testing and diagnostics are provided herein. In particular, a health testing and diagnostic platform is provided to connect medical providers with patients and to generate a unique, private testing environment. In some embodiments, the testing environment may facilitate administration of a medical test to a patient with the guidance of a proctor. In some embodiments, the patient may be provided with step-by-step instructions for test administration by the proctor within a testing environment. The platform may display unique, dynamic testing interfaces to the patient and proctor to ensure proper testing protocols and accurate test result verification.

  • Patent number: 7060000
Abstract: A game board device for directing body movements in games, exercise, or physical therapy. It employs a support frame of side-by-side modular units of relatively the same size and shape supporting a continuous matrix of contact surfaces supported in a common plane. The contact surfaces in the adjacent frames are arranged in a coordinated matrix of adjacent surfaces that are illuminatable in various colors. The contact surfaces are illuminated normally one at a time so as to cue sequential steps in a random pattern and at varying speeds in a game or predetermined patterns and adjustable speeds in exercise or therapy. Control of the sequential illumination may be manually or by a program by manually operated device or by computer. It is preferred that the individual frames be hindged to permit folding for storage and transportation.

  • Publication number: 20030073541
Abstract: The invention is directed to apparatus and a method of playing a skill game, conducting exercise, or learning movements such as dance steps. Ordinarily, it would be used for contact by the feet, but it could be used for contact by the hands, particularly in connection with physical therapy activity or the like. The contact surfaces are arranged in a coordinated pattern that may consist of a matrix of adjacent colored illuminatable tiles or simply stepping stones positioned in a random array perhaps quite different from a regular matrix. The contact surfaces are illuminated normally one at a time so as to cue sequential steps in a random pattern and at varying speeds in a game. Changes may also be made in a regular repeatable pattern with predetermined timing rhythms of a dance or may be made variable so that they may be slowed or quickened in therapy as the patient progresses.

  • Patent number: 6094803
Abstract: A method of making and self-aligning a disk data storage read/write head that uses a catadioptric focusing device (or lens) having a high numerical aperture (NA), which does not introduce significant spot aberration on a storage medium. The manufacturing process of the head is carried out at a wafer level, and is facilitated significantly by the flatness of the focusing device. An exemplary manufacturing process is implemented as follows: A lens coil/plate is formed by molding a flat optical substrate to form the desired lens shapes. Coil cavities or depressions are formed simultaneously with the lens to accommodate a coil. Conductive plugs are formed in proximity to cutting lines for wire bonding attachment to the coil. A slider wafer is formed and bonded to the lens/coil wafer. Coils and pedestals are also formed on the lens/coil plate using thin-film processing techniques, and reflective surfaces are deposited on the bottom surface of the substrate, opposite the lens.

  • Patent number: 6016290
Abstract: A read/write head for use in data storage drives includes a thermally assisted inductive write section and a magnetic read section to write data onto, and retrieve data from a storage medium. The write section includes a waveguide formed of a core and a surrounding cladding, and positioned between a first write pole and a second write pole, to conduct a laser beam for heating the medium. The second write pole and the optical waveguide core are offset relative to each other at the pole tip, such that they define an overlap region that determines a written track width. The offsetting facilitates manufacturing process since the optical waveguide core and the second write pole can be made wide enough while still defining tracks with a limited width.

  • Patent number: 5545287
Abstract: Tools for finishing joints at flat surfaces or corners of wallboard walls after adhesive and tape have been applied are attached to the applicator tool by a rotatable yoke connection near the roller of the applicator so that the finishing tool will follow the applicator tool. The finishing tool includes a roller rotatable about an axle for embedding tape into the adhesive. Frame structure rotatably supported on the roller axle is provided with trowel means having a working surface moving parallel to the wallboard surface and placed close to the roller, at least on the sides, to spread adhesive pressed from under the tape back over the tape. Finishing means attached to the frame structure to follow the trowel collects the excess adhesive and distributes it in a smooth surface generally in the plane of the wallboard, filling in any voids left by trowel action. A cylindrical roller is used for joints in flat wallboard.

  • Patent number: 5152704
Abstract: A water jet propulsion unit having a housing, a drive shaft, an impeller for mounting on the drive shaft, and a thrust bearing for supporting the drive shaft in the housing. The propulsion unit further includes a shaft seal unit for the shaft, with the housing having a forward end and a rear end, a bore with a longitudinal axis for slidingly receiving the shaft seal unit form the rear of the housing, with the shaft seal unit and the bearing carried on the shaft, a shoulder for preventing forward movement of the bearing in the bore along the axis beyond a predetermined position, and a lateral opening for access through the housing to the shaft seal unit, and a retainer moveable through the lateral opening for engagement with the shaft seal unit and the housing for limiting rearward movement of the shaft seal unit in the bore.

  • Patent number: 4592797
Abstract: A tool for finishing joints in wall board employs a generally cylindrical roller for applying pressure to imbed the tape in adhesive supported on a handle for applying pressure to the roller by a yoke rotatably supporting the roller in spaced locations along the roller axis. An adhesive trowel member is also supported on the yoke and provides an opening through which the roller projects. The trowel is positioned generally tangent to but slightly below the roller surface so that the trowel presents a curved surface of much greater radius than the roller and acts to redistribute the adhesive. A box scrapper also supported from the yoke about an axis parallel to the roller axis has a base and sidewalls, except on that side adjacent the roller. That particular side is left open to accumulate adhesive scrapped off the wall. The sidewalls are made to terminate in a common plane permitting flat contact with the wall and together act as a scrapper to collect adhesive in the box.
