  • Patent number: 4621425
Abstract: A retractable knife handle employs a blade carrier mounting a blade for longitudinally moving the blade between retracted sheathed and extended unsheathed positions. A leaf spring extends from the blade carrier to engage an inwardly projecting cam surface so that when the blade carrier is shifted to the extended unsheathed position, the blade is clamped between the blade carrier and case.

  • Patent number: 4429462
Abstract: A coilable measuring blade for coilable rules has a concavo-convex cross section which has an intermediate portion with a smaller arc and greater height extending through and beyond the normal standout length to provide greater standout length. The blade may also have an outer terminal portion of greater height to require its deflection as it enters the rule casing and thereby provide reduction of the speed with which the blade is being retracted into the casing.

  • Patent number: 4411072
Abstract: A coilable measuring blade for coilable rules has a concavo-convex cross section which has a first portion wherein the length of the arc gradually decreases and the height of the cross section gradually increases to provide greater standout length. The inner or second portion of the blade also has a concavo-convex cross section with a relatively large radius and relatively shallow height. The blade may also have an outer terminal portion of greater height to require its deflection as it enters the rule casing and thereby provide reduction of the speed with which the blade is being retracted into the casing.

  • Patent number: 4039013
Abstract: A hand tool providing for helical drive of tool bits is fabricated from a handle providing a coaxial bore with an abutment shoulder at one end, and a guide member having a helical rib along a bore extending therethrough is firmly seated in the open end of the bore. A drive spindle having a cooperating helical thread on its outer surface is slidably seated in the guide member and has its inner end engaged to limit its movement outwardly from the guide member. In the handle bore is provided a compression spring assembly which biases the spindle outwardly of the guide member. The tool is readily assembled by inserting the drive spindle into the guide member and locking it thereon and then driving the partially ribbed guide member into the bore of the handle after the compression spring assembly has been inserted therein.
