  • Patent number: 6569817
Abstract: A composition containing an anti-static agent and a lubricant for treatment of a surface of a flat article (2) so as to define point of separation of a plurality of at least partly superimposed flat articles. Due to the lubricant, the friction coefficient between the treated surface and a surface of an adjacent article and, therefore, the static friction between the two articles is reduced. Due to the anti-static agent, static charging of the treated article and, therefore, adhesion between articles obtainable through static charging is reduced. In a plurality of superimposed, flat articles statically charged in a d.c. voltage field, the named two effects produce a displacement at the location of a treated surface, when a displacement force (11) with a component parallel to the principal surfaces of the articles is applied to the plurality of articles.

  • Patent number: 6512665
Abstract: A static charge is produced on surfaces of superimposed, flat articles (2) by passing the superimposed articles (2) through an electric d.c. voltage field that is oriented substantially perpendicular to the principal surfaces of the articles. Due to the charging, electric forces of attraction between the surfaces of the articles increase the mutual adhesion of the flat articles. The effect of the static charging is reduced or prevented for at least one of two surfaces participating at a predetermined separation point, by treating the surface beforehand with an anti-static agent (3). Due to the anti-static agent there is little or no charge concentration on the surface such that there is little or no increase in adhesion at the separation point. Thus, at the separation point it is possible to displace the articles against one another with much smaller force expenditure than is required to displace the articles at non-separation points.

  • Patent number: 6488212
Abstract: The invention concerns a movable object, e.g. a roll of printed products (1) with a winding core (2) onto which printed products are wound with the help of a winding tape (3). The inventive movable object carries data stored in an integrated circuit (23) and an antenna, whereby the data can be read or overwritten respectively without contact by a reading/writing device with a main reading direction (L). The antenna is designed as an antenna loop (5) with a gap, whereby the ends of the loop (5) are contacted with the integrated circuit which is e.g. arranged on a connecting piece and whereby an antenna area is defined by the antenna loop (5). The object is position able relative to the reading/writing device (10) such that the main reading direction (L) penetrates the antenna area vertically or obliquely.

  • Patent number: 6398016
Abstract: A conveyor device comprising a guiding rail for guiding at least one transport mechanism. A ferromagnetic guide, including a magnet, is fixed to the guiding rail. An article carrying part is detachably connected to the transport mechanism through a magnetic circuit that flows through two spaced apart ferromagnetic guide parts carried by the transport mechanism. The ferromagnetic guide and the ferromagnetic guide parts are located relative to each other such that there is an air gap there between through which the magnetic circuit flows to create an attractive force, Fm, holding the article carrying part on the transport mechanism.

  • Patent number: 6363133
Abstract: A counting device associated with a conveying device for conveying flexible flat objects, such as printed products, in an overlapping stream. The counting device includes a slide mounted for forward and return movement along a guide which extends in the conveying direction, and a drive is provided for moving the slide along the guide at a higher speed than the conveying speed. The slide mounts a flexible contact element which engages the objects, and a sensor element which is engaged by the contact element when the contact element is deflected by engagement with a rear edge of each object, as the slide is forwardly advanced. A catch element, which is also mounted to the slide, then comes into contact with the rear edge of the object to displace the object in the conveying direction.

  • Patent number: 6359954
Abstract: An apparatus for counting flexible flat objects, such as printed products, which are conveyed in an overlapping formation. A detection device counts the objects as they are being conveyed, and comprises an insertion element which is moved in the direction of conveyance at a speed greater than the conveying speed of the objects so as to catch up with an object and interact with an end section of the object, and a detection element which emits a signal to a counter when the insertion element interacts with an end section of an object.

  • Patent number: 6349125
Abstract: An apparatus for counting flat objects, such as printed products, which are conveyed in an overlapping formation, and which comprises a guide means extending in the conveying direction and mounting a contact element for reciprocatory movement therealong. A drive serves to move the contact element cyclically in the conveying direction at a speed greater than the conveying speed of the overlapping objects, so that it can be brought into contact with the rear edge of each object. A detector element emits a signal to a counter upon contact between the contact element and the rear edge of an object, and a reference element is provided which rests upon the overlapping formation from above to ensure that the contact element mounted on the guide means and the formation assume a precisely defined mutual position.

  • Patent number: 6269942
Abstract: A force transmission or transport device having a line of force transmitting elements (2), a guide (1) for guiding the line of force transmitting elements (2) along a predetermined course, and at least one drive. A tensioning drive (6) is provided at one end of a section (5) of the predetermined course. A further drive (3), or an intermitting stop (9), is provided at the other end of the section (5) for tensioning the line of force transmitting elements (2) by a tractive or a compressive load. The further drive (3) or stop (9) acts substantially without slippage on the force transmitting elements (2). The tensioning drive (6), via a friction clutch, starts slipping when the desired tension has built up.
