  • Publication number: 20090323055
Abstract: A toxic gas sensor or device which is a cavity ring-down spectroscopy device having two or more mirror components. Each of the mirror components has two Brewster windows attached to it. The Brewster windows are resistant to toxic gases and together with the respective mirror form a hermetically sealed volume for the mirror surface to protect it from the environment or test gases. The Brewster windows may have a heating mechanism to remove contaminants, condensation, and provide temperature stabilization and other beneficial features.

  • Publication number: 20040046969
Abstract: By providing an optical monitor in a coating chamber that can continuously monitor layer thickness of thin films deposited on optical substrates during thin film deposition, optical coatings may be uniformly produced in high volumes. The optical monitor includes a light source, a light detector, a control panel, and a computer. The light source generates a light beam that is directed into the coating chamber towards the optical substrates. When the light beam hits the optical substrates, an amount of light passes through. The amount of light that passes through the optical substrates is representative of the thin film layer thickness on the substrates. The detector detects the amount of light that passes through and generates a current signal. The control panel converts the current signal to a voltage signal and provides transmission data to the computer. The computer calculates the thickness of the thin film layer using the transmission data and provides correction information.

  • Patent number: 5518548
Abstract: Deposition sources deposit material onto mirrors used in ring laser gyros. The mirrors are placed in a rotating apparatus called a planet which rotates above the deposition sources which emit the material upwards. This operation will result alternating, multiple layers of the differing materials deposited onto the mirror. A barrier placed between the deposition sources prevents material from being deposited at high angles which increases the efficiency and ideal operability of the mirrors in the ring laser gyro.
