  • Publication number: 20240081802
Abstract: Various methods and devices are provided for allowing multiple surgical instruments to be inserted into sealing elements of a single surgical access device. The sealing elements can be movable along predefined pathways within the device to allow surgical instruments inserted through the sealing elements to be moved laterally, rotationally, angularly, and vertically relative to a central longitudinal axis of the device for ease of manipulation within a patient's body while maintaining insufflation.

  • Publication number: 20080289147
Abstract: The present invention provides a mechanism for mounting a door comprising a dual-hinge or “double-knuckle” spine/hinge system which allows a traffic door to open a full 180 degrees in both directions from a closed position. The mechanism allows the door to be flush with a wall that is adjacent to the door resulting in minimal obstruction of hallways and/or other traffic areas into which the door opens, thereby significantly increasing the efficient use of limited space. The present invention also provides a mechanism for cushioning a door against sudden impacts and reducing the stresses from loads that are commonly placed on the door and jamb due to frequent opening and closing.

  • Publication number: 20030003538
Abstract: The invention provides NPGs from rat and human, reagents related thereto including polynucleotides encoding NPGs, purified polypeptides, and specific antibodies. Methods of making and using these reagents, in particular, methods for screening compounds which modulate NPGs activity are provided. Also provided are methods of diagnosis, kits, and transgenic animals.

  • Patent number: 6232061
Abstract: A long-distance homology cloning method which involves a multi-oligonucleotide, multi-step and iterative strategy designed to identify DNA sequences that code for evolutionary conserved amino acid sequences.

  • Patent number: 5583008
Abstract: The invention is directed to a rapid, efficient, inexpensive screening and diagnostic procedure for detecting avermectin/milbemycin resistance in parasitic nematodes. The procedure is designed for field use. The method entails the incubation of nematode sensillum with specific visible or fluorescent dyes that intercalate and diffuse in membranes of sensory neurons on the outer surface of wild-type nematodes but which do not bind or have reduced binding in resistant nematodes. The method is particularly directed to ivermectin resistant parasitic nematodes.

  • Patent number: 4764065
Abstract: An anchor for attaching cables or other devices to a wall structure comprises a hollow metal cylinder having a pair of wing members pivoted within the cylinder and extending through opposing openings in the sides of the cylinder. The wings are spring biased to their collapsed positions in the cylinder and are extended by the pressure of a bolt threaded in one end of the cylinder. The wings may be forced by the bolt to wedge the cylinder in a concrete or other solid wall, alternatively may be extended in back of a panel wall for retaining the anchor in place.
