    Abstract: A circuit is disclosed for establishing a reference level in a video signal which may include unwanted low frequency components. The circuit clamps the video signal to a selected level at a time corresponding to the front porch segment of the horizontal line synchronizing pulse. The clamping is carried out at the horizontal line rate, including during vertical blanking. A phase locked loop is employed to achieve synchronization with the front porch.
