Publication number: 20130185980Abstract: A firearm rest is provided that quickly, quietly, and easily permits mounting to all known firearms, including all long guns, such as rifles, primitive muzzle loading weapons, and shotguns as well as pistols and crossbows. The weapon is positioned upon, but not fastened to, the lower surface, or cradle, of a U-shaped weapon rest. This embodiment of the invention is easily, quickly, and quietly adjusted to the needed elevation, and even when secured in place can still articulate easily to the right or left for tracking a target. Another feature of the invention is a lower bi-pod support fastened to a mono-pod with the firearm receiver above and supported by a height adjustable monopod. The invention lower bi-pod portion permits resting directly on the ground or on the shooter's thigh as seated upright on the ground or on an armrest of an elevated seat supporting the weapon to the shooters eye level, or aiming and shooting level.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 28, 2011Publication date: July 25, 2013Inventor: Carl E. Publication number: 20100130997Abstract: A lancing device for sampling blood or other body fluid of a subject includes a reusable housing and a disposable cassette. The cassette contains a plurality of lancets held in a storage plane. An active lancet is moved transversely from the storage plane into a firing plane, into engagement with a drive mechanism for actuation to lance the subject's skin. After actuation, the used lancet is returned to the storage plane. Each lancet includes a protective endcap that is removed from the lancet just prior to use and then is replaced onto the lancet after use.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2004Publication date: May 27, 2010Applicant: FACET TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Richard W. Patent number: 7655019Abstract: A sampling device (20) having a housing (24) with a lancet cartridge (22) mounted therein. The lancets (26) of the lancet cartridge (22) are interconnected by a flexible web (28). The lancet cartridge (22) is not positively engaged within the housing (24) and can be easily removed. The housing (24) has an opening (42) with an adjacent flexible or compressible fin (60) for dampening the motion of the lancet (26). The lancet cartridge (22) has at least one lancet (26) with an endcap, and the housing has a cap-removal mechanism (74) for separating the endcap from the housing (24). Anti-tampering features prevent opening of the device when the lancet cartridge (22) is oriented with a lancet (26) in a firing position.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2004Date of Patent: February 2, 2010Assignee: Facet Technologies, LLCInventors: Richard W. Patent number: 7288102Abstract: A lancing device having a low-mass, high-velocity lancet decoupled from a drive mechanism when piercing a user's skin. The drive mechanism includes a spring-driven piston that impacts the lancet on firing to propel the lancet from a retracted position towards an extended position. After impact, but before the lancet reaches the extended position, a stop limits the travel of the piston to separate the piston from the lancet. Precise guidance of the lancet minimizes lateral movement of the lancet.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2004Date of Patent: October 30, 2007Assignee: Facet Technologies, LLCInventors: Carl E. Griffin, Avi M. Robbins, Michael V. Lipoma, David R. Buenger

Patent number: 6494899Abstract: A phototherapy system and method for automatically replacing a failed light source with a new light source once a failure of a first light source is detected. This system permits the new light source to assume a coaxially aligned position with the proximal end portion of a light transmission medium in place of the failed light source without any manual input by the user. In addition, an improved coupling system is provided for coupling the light transmission medium to the illumination device housing the light sources. The coupling system prevents pull out of the light transmission medium from the illumination device over nearly all rotational angles of the proximal end of the light transmission medium relative to the housing, and over only a relatively small range of angles will some degree of pull out force enable the light transmission medium to be decoupled from the illumination device.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 2000Date of Patent: December 17, 2002Assignee: Respironics, Inc.Inventors: Carl E.
