  • Patent number: 6292729
Abstract: A tractor includes various actuators or functions, such as a powershift transmission, a hitch and hitch control system, a PTO, a plurality of selective control valves, etc., all controlled by one or more control units in response to sensed parameters and operator manipulated control devices, such as switches, knobs and levers. A function management system includes a programmed control unit which has a learn/save mode which is operable while the vehicle is moving. During the learn/save mode the operator performs a sequence of manual manipulations of the operator control devices, and the control unit records and then stores information pertaining to the sequence of operations, together with information pertaining to the distances traveled by the tractor between operations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 14, 1999
Date of Patent: September 18, 2001
    Assignee: Deere & Company
Inventors: Peter Leslie Falck, Trent Lynn Goodnight, Stephen Paul Lang, Bruce Craig Newendorp, Michael Owen Youngblood, Carl Edwin Kittle

  • Patent number: 3995711
Abstract: Disclosed is a vehicle power steering system including an electro-hydraulic safety backup system for supplying pressurized fluid to the steering motor of the vehicle when the pressure between the main pump and the power steering system drops below a predetermined pressure level. The safety backup system includes an electrical circuit which is added on to the ignition and starting circuits of a vehicle such that the backup system will not operate in response to intermittent short duration pressure drops. The electrical circuit includes an arming feature to prevent the backup system from operating during initial start-up of the vehicle and further provides for operation of the vehicle's starting motor to have priority over the backup system operation.

  • Patent number: 3973398
Abstract: An improved automatically shiftable direction control valve for a tractor hydraulic system wherein there is provided a charging pump, low pressure priority functions such as cooling and lubrication connected to the charging pump, a main pump, a continuously acting reversible function, a single-acting function, and a double-acting function all connected to the output of the main pump, and a manually operable direction control valve for each of the functions. The improved automatically shiftable direction control valve has a restricted passage causing a pressure drop which shifts the valve so as to direct the exhaust of the continuously-acting and double-acting functions to the charging circuit and to direct the exhaust of the single-acting function to the fluid reservoir.
